DIY Metal Gingerbread Craft Party
If you are looking for a fun craft that is perfect for both kids and adults, you must try making these metal gingerbread houses. Last year I made these with my then 12-year-old daughter and this year I made them with my friends. It is a craft that is fun for all ages!
I decided to host a kick off to the holidays girls craft party for some of my friends. This craft is so easy and requires no real skill, so it’s perfect for anyone.
Supplies to make metal gingerbread houses
Black metal houses from Target
Spray paint (I recommend the color Cinnamon, which I found hard to find in stores)
White paint pens (thin and thick)
White glitter
White puffy paint
White paint
In advance of the party, I spray painted all the gingerbread houses. Do this at least 72 hours before the party so that the houses have plenty of time to dry.
Every person had their own house + set of thin and thick tipped paint pens. I also had a container filled with white paint, puffy paint and glitter for people to use. I recommend buying a few extra pens to have on hand because sometimes the pens get clogged.
To make the houses, draw little designs with the paint pens, then add accents with puffy paint and glitter. Some people chose to paint rooftops white, then added puffy paint and glitter after. We looked at gingerbread houses online to get ideas of the designs to draw.
I did a terrible job of taking pictures during the party (we had too much fun painting), but you can watch this reel to see some of the houses we made.
I also found these cute gingerbread gift bags at Target, which were perfect for party favors.
Have you guests bring a small box to transport their houses home in, as they will not be dry at the end of the party.
This is the perfect holiday craft! Order some metal houses today and make them. You’ll be so glad you did.
