New to Me Recipes 2025

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to make 40 new recipes, mostly from my extensive cookbook collection that I don’t cook from enough. As I cook, I plan to link the recipes and cookbooks here, both to share with you and to keep me on track. Affiliate links used for cookbooks.
New Recipes
- Whole30 Chicken Soup Recipe with Coconut Milk: John and I absolutely LOVED this soup. It freezes beautifully too.
- Sweet Potato Chili: This was another Whole30 recipe. It was very good.
- Brunch with Babs Hot Corn Dip: We made this recipe for the Super Bowl and it was delicious. It definitely has some kick, so keep that in mind when making it.
Cookbook: Celebrate with Babs - Guacamole with Cheese: This is a Chrissy Teigen recipe and it was the best homemade guac I have ever made. I will say, we liked the cheese, but totally not necessary.
Cookbook: Cravings - Enchilada Rice Skillet: This was sooooo delicious. If you use premade rice, omit the beef stock (we missed this note, but it was still delicious, just runnier than it should have been. This recipe is similar.
Cookbook: What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking - Martha Stewart French Dip Burgers: A Marley Spoon box that included a French Dip sauce that was delicious.
- Ground Beef and Broccoli with Rice: This Marley Spoon recipe was so, so good. Will definitely make it again.
- Pub Style Meat Pie: John said this was one of the best recipes I had ever made. It took a long time, but was worth it. The leftovers were amazing as well. (Another Marley Spoon)
- Chicken Francese: My kids loved this Marley Spoon recipe so much that I have made it again already. So delicious.
- Blueberry BBQ Chicken Salad: Literally, the best salad I have ever made at home. A super easy marinade and dressing made this quick to make and so delicious. We added grilled corn to it and next time I’d do carmalized onions too.
Cookbook: Wishbone Kitchen Cookbook - Grilled Street Corn Salad with Avocado: This half baked harvest recipe was perfect for our 4th of July party!
- Berry Crisp: I found this recipe in one of my dessert cookbooks and it was also a great dessert to serve for the 4th. Very easy and delicious.
- Peach cobbler pound cake by Erin Gierhart: This pound cake was absolutely insane. So moist and flavorful.
- Sprinkle cake with peach buttercream: I made this for John’s birthday. It was delicious, especially the buttercream frosting.
- Cinnamon crunch peach muffin bread : I will make this recipe for the rest of my life. The best dessert bread ever.
- Best Homemade Bread: One of my goals within this goal was to make homemade bread from scratch. After making this easy recipe, I don’t know why it took me so long to make. SO easy!
- Steakhouse Hashbrown by Caro Chambers: The flavor in this recipe was great, but the hashbrowns didn’t come together like I hoped.
- Brie and Peach Grilled Cheese: An easy recipe from Chrissy Teigen
- Chicken Meatballs: This NYT recipe was so fantastic. I made it with rice and roasted broccoli and my kids and I all loved them.
- Skillet Caprese Chicken from Well Plated Cookbook: I want to make this recipe every week for the next year. So simple and soooo delicious. Tasted like something from a restaurant. I served it with roasted potatoes and salad.
- Tini’s Mac & Cheese: I made this for Thanksgiving. We loved it. I would grate only 1/2 the cheese next time. I cut it back significantly and it was plenty cheesy.
- Green Bean Casserole with Onion Rings by Diane Morrissey: This was spectacular. I made it with blanched fresh green beans, but otherwise followed the recipe.
- Halfbaked Harvest Garlic Butter Brussels Sprouts: Absolutely wonderful, especially the aioli.
- Halfbaked Harvest Lemon Rosemary Chicken: Made this in the InstantPot. Very easy and delicious. Loved the sauce too.
- Maple-Sesame Smashed Sweet Potatoes: Skipped the sesame seeds. Absolutely delicious.
- Creme de Menthe Brownies from Sally’s Baking 101
- Gingerbread Cookie Bars from Sally’s Baking 101
