Romantic Getaway to Savannah – 3 Day Trip Itinerary

My boyfriend John and I went to Savannah for 2.5 days for a little romantic getaway. I got so many questions about where we went and what we did that I thought I would share our itinerary. We planned the trip quickly, but I think it was the perfect romantic trip to Savannah, with lots of great meals and enjoyable attractions.
Where to stay in Savannah
We stayed at the brand new hotel, The Ann Savannah. Oh my goodness, it was so, so amazing. Absolutely perfect for a romantic trip to Savannah. The rooms were all suites, with a living room/kitchenette, a bedroom and a full bathroom. Everything was so pretty and clean. It was also a super convenient five-minute walk to downtown. We absolutely loved it.
It would also be great for families because the rooms have so much space. I could not get over how much I loved this hotel.
Day One
We arrived at lunch time. We rented a car with Turo and then headed to check into the hotel. After doing so, we walked to the river and got lunch at Coastal 15. It was stunning and the food was excellent.

We then explored a bit downtown, shopping on Broughton Street. We decided to skip Leopold’s ice cream, though many told us we should. It was just too close to dinner when we saw it.
We freshened up for dinner and then headed to Belford’s Seafoods and Steaks. It was very good and had a great atmosphere.

Afterward, we had planned to do drinks at Jen’s and Friends, but it is currently closed. Other’s recommended that we go to Better Than Sex Dessert Restaurant, but it was also closed on the days of our visit. So we just wandered the various squares, holding hands and getting lots of steps.
At 9 pm we did a ghost tour. Savannah is known as the most haunted city in America and it was very interesting. I will say that I wish that I had booked one for earlier, as we were pretty tired by the time it was over at 10:30. It added a little spookiness doing it at night, but not enough that I would say you have to do a night tour.
Day Two

For our second day, we drove to Tybee Island, a charming beach town just 20-25 minutes from Savannah. John and I had never been to a beach together (I love the beach!) and so this was a must-do. We worked in the morning and headed to Tybee at 10:30. We got parked and had an early lunch at 11 am.

We had a fantastic lunch at Fannie’s and then got some beach souvenirs at the shops nearby.
Afterward, we drove to North Beach, saw the iconic lighthouse and walked to the beach. We rented beach chairs and an umbrella on the beach and just enjoyed the day together. We walked along the beach, read and played Tidal Ball. If you have never played Tidal Ball, it is such a fun game and so small — John brought it in his carry on! (Read this post for more carry on packing tips.)

We considered doing a sunset boat ride, but it was pretty chilly and we thought we would be too cold. We went back to The Ann, showered and headed to dinner.
For dinner we ate at Garibaldi’s, which was our favorite meal of the trip. Many people told us to eat at The Olde Pink House, but we couldn’t get reservations. Garibaldi’s is the same owner and it was sooooo fantastic and reservations were easy to get. Both of these restaurants are perfect if you are planning a romantic getaway to Savannah. The menus are diverse and the atmosphere is perfect for a special evening.
Day 3
For our last day, we hit a few museums. First we visited The Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, which we loved. It was very interesting and the ship models were so impressive.

Then we had 11:30 tickets for the Prohibition Museum tour. You can do self-guided, but the guided tour was really interesting and worth the price. The ticket also included a drink at the end of the tour in a Speakeasy – so fun!
Afterward, we were so hungry for lunch! We ate at the Wexford Irish Pub, which was next to the museum, and it was really yummy. Oh my gosh. Amazing sandwiches and drinks.

We then decided to do the popular Savannah Old Town Trolley Tour. It is a 90-minute tour with many hop on, hop off locations around the city. We stopped at Forsyth Park, walked a bit and took pictures by the iconic fountain. It was such a pretty day.

Afterward, we had to check out of our hotel (we had a very late check out) and headed to the airport. It was a wonderful romantic getaway to Savannah, and we can’t wait to go back.
