What I Wore in Mexico

I overpacked for my long weekend away with John to Riviera Maya, but I wasn’t mad about it! The weather was in the high 80s – low 90s. I spent days in swimwear and nights in dresses. We stayed at Dreams Aventuras, an all-inclusive hotel that was perfect for a weekend getaway.

For our travel day, I opted to wear a floral Boden dress, which is as comfy as pajamas. I wore flats for comfort. My belt bag was this bag from Quince, and honestly, I do not like it. It is a bit too small for my phone + wallet and I find myself constantly annoyed and wishing I was using a different one. Don’t buy it.
For my jewelry, I wore these Kendra Scott hoops that I got from Target (they are some of my most worn earrings) and my Maya Brenner necklace that I wear almost every day.
I wore this Amazon swimsuit and it felt perfect for Mexico — so bright and happy.
For dinner, I wore a Current Air satin dress that I bought at a boutique last year in Nashville. I know this isn’t helpful from a shopping standpoint, but I was trying to go for lots of color in Mexico and this dress felt perfect! I also wore this beaded J BaubleBar necklace. I have gotten a variety of these beaded necklaces and this is by far the prettiest. It has real weight and the nicest beads.

For day two, we started the day with breakfast at the resort, so I popped on a cotton Boden dress. I love this dress so much that I own it in 2 patterns. It is so, so nice and comfortable. It is my most favorite dress I bought this summer. I also wore these Sorel wedges, which are also really comfortable and great for a vacation. The are very sturdy too! My heart necklace is by BaubleBar and I loved the statement it made.
We then went to the pool and I wore my new Summersalt swimsuit. This is my favorite swimsuit cut and I have it now in three patterns (I’ve bought one a year for the past three years). I bought it for this trip and was so happy to wear it.
For dinner I wore another boutique dress that I can’t find online. I loved the color and pattern for Mexico. My straw purse is Avara (similar style here). I really loved that I bought a purse like it for evenings to pull my outfits together. It also was very flat, so great for packing.
John wore a great J. Crew shirt that night! I loved the pattern and fit on him. Perfect for a beach trip.

Our last day was a two swimsuit day. I wore this swimsuit for snorkeling and visiting a Cenotes. I really love it because it has full coverage and a lot of support. A great one for wearing with a life vest too.
In the afternoon, we relaxed on a Bali bed on the hotel beach and I wore this swimsuit. It is a sexy low cut suit that was great for lounging. I also wore this cover up, which maybe is my favorite cover up I’ve ever owned. It is SOOOOO pretty. This packable tote bag was also perfect for the pool and beach.

For our last dinner, I wore a gorgeous Melloday satin dress from Nordstrom Rack. This dress was the hit of the trip on my Instagram, but it sold out earlier this summer when I shared it. I also wore that heart necklace again. Felt perfect for a weekend that was filled with so much love and affection.
John’s button up is from J. Crew Factory. It is a knit material making it super comfortable. It’s so nice and a really great shirt.
And yes, we love games so much that I brought a card game to dinner. Couch Skeletons is so fast and fun — a perfect restaurant game that is for two players.

We left Sunday morning. I wore this cute shift dress for breakfast because I had to wear it before we left – ha! It’s very cute, but I will say, wrinkles very easily. Just a note if you get it for traveling. It needed a big steam! I then changed into shorts and a shirt for traveling home.
A few other essentials that I packed, but don’t have pictures of.
Lingerie from Mentionables, because, well, of course. I love their lingerie so much. It’s so pretty and they have so many styles.
I wore these slip shorts under my dresses each day.
This toiletry bag continues to be my most used of all my toiletry bags. I love how much it holds.
This sound machine is excellent. I love that it has a light and lots of sound options.
I also had a clear case filled with sun essentials. This was perfect for our beach bag.
