How Does it work?
Before we dive right into the gift guide, let’s talk through a few specifics that might help you choose what to buy.
In my experience, a Favorite Things Party works one of three ways:
- You bring just one item and go home with one item from a friend.
- You bring a set number of identical items—say, three candles—and go home with that same number of items. You might end up with a makeup bag, a serving platter and sunglasses. You won’t get something from everyone, but you’ll get lots of ideas for things you might want to buy.
- You bring enough items for everyone to go home with the exact same things.
So in order to narrow down your starting list, be sure to chat with the host. Ask about the number of items you’re expected to bring as well as the budget range for each item.

Gifts between $5 and $15

Stoneware Vase: Add a stem or two in a bold color to this muted vase for a modern take on table flowers.

Faux Shearling Blanket: Threshold blankets are so cozy and I love that this one is plenty big enough to wrap up in for a movie night on the couch. Such a great blanket at this price point!

Tarte Tubing Mascara: This mascara went viral for a reason. It lengthens my eyelashes like no other and stays put until I wash my face at night. This will be a coveted item, I promise you!

Wooden Christmas Trees: Beautifully handcrafted from beached wood, these trees come in varying sizes, and in sets of four or eight, making them easy to tailor to the specifics of your party. I love how they elevate a holiday mantel or tablescape. For an even-more budget-friendly approach, try wooden ornaments, which come in sets of 10 through 25.

Socks: Kitschy enough to be fun and subtle enough to still feel grown up. And the ratings—10,000 and counting!—speak for themselves! Of course, they come in lots of other color options, including solids, prints and holiday-themed.

Magnetic Pill Container: This is where a practical gift really shines. Keep all of your supplements and medicines in one place for travel or easy access at home. These come in sizes both large and small, so you can grab what you need to fit your Favorite Things Party budget.

Winter Wonderland Puzzle: Snag this sweet holiday scene from Galison, complete with kids playing and Santa sleighing. Pro tip: a 500-piece box is fun for puzzle enthusiasts and approachable for friends who might be new to the hobby.

Jar Spatula: Waste not, want not with this tool made for reaching the very bottom of the jar. Pair with a container of nutella, almond butter or lemon curd.

Folex Cleaner: Don’t look away just yet! This cleaner works on so much more than carpets. It will get the toughest of stains out of clothes and furniture without so much as an elbow’s worth of effort. Your friends will thank you and then you can thank me!

Pretty Mug: Grab this set of four mugs to split with bags of top-notch beans from your local roaster.

Trail Mix: Having a go-to-snack during the holidays is a real treat. And a container big enough to share with impromptu company? Even better. I especially love the trail mix options at Target for something spicy, healthy, flavorful or festive.

Silk Pillowcase: Sleeping on a silk pillowcase doesn’t just feel great. It also keeps skin clear and hair smooth. This one is my go-to.

Collagen Peptides: This box contains eight servings that deliver clean collagen peptides for high protein and loads of body benefits. Pair each packet with an inexpensive frother for easy mixing.Â

Snackle Box: Snackle boxes are one of those “Why didn’t anyone think of this sooner?” kind of creations. So simple but completely changes the game on snack prep for afternoons at home or days on the go. Fill yours with a few favorite treats, if you like!

Clear Stadium Bag: Most concerts and sporting events now require clear bags for entry. With a crossbody fit, great price point and 14 colors to choose from, you can follow the rules AND look stylish while doing it.

Elemis Cleansing Balm: I’m obsessed with this facial cleanser! It seamlessly removes makeup and protects skin without hurting your eyes.

Bottle Carrier: This clever design holds a large water bottle, keys and a phone with a strap. Wear it like a purse for hands-free shopping, walking and hanging with friends.

Mini Whisks: Okay, hear me out on this one. Whisks are great, but mini whisks? Infinitely useful and definitely adorable. These are especially great for whipping up sauces, marinades and salad dressing.

The Game You Played Most This Year: Games are one of my favorite ways to pass the time with family and friends. And I love learning about new ones! John and I can’t stop playing Jaipur. It’s a two-person game from the makers of Splendor, so you know it’s good.

Makeup Bag: This bag was a HUGE hit at one of my Favorite Things Parties, and for good reason! The asymmetrical zipper allows the bag to open wide leaving room for loads of products that sight tight.

Rifle Paper Co. Notebook Set: You guys know how much I love all things Rifle Paper. This set of three notebooks makes the perfect gift. It’s practical for everyday use. But it’s also beautiful, with stitched binding and gold-foil accents.
