Why I Scrap
It comes as no surprise that I was not selected for the Scenic Route Design Team. I say this not because I don’t think my pages were great, but because of the sheer number of people who applied. More than 600 people submitted designs and only nine ( yes, NINE) were selected! That is less than two percent, making it an even bigger challenge than the Hall of Fame. I am totally okay though. (Matthew joked, asking if he was going to need to call in some counselors if I didn’t get a call.)
The whole thing got me thinking about why I scrap. I don’t scrap to get published, gain fame, etc. (or rather, I shouldn’t…) While that would neat, and I would love to see one of my pages on a manufacturer’s web site or in a magazine – the reason why I started scrapbooking is to capture and chronicle memories. I mustn’t lose that focus. When I become consumed with competitions/DT applications, it sometimes takes the fun and reason out of why I scrap. I become the Type A, must always be the best, Jessica Turner, which is totally not necessary. So, while I still going to try to get published (I have been bitten by this bug that won’t go away), I am going to really try to not let it consume my creative process.
You have a great attitude. I’m sorry you didn’t make the team…but it just means that the one that’s meant for you is still out there!
Bummer you didn’t make the team. I too have had the same dissapointments.
You have a great attitude about the whole thing.
Chin up!
