Wise Words and Tuesday Nights
Tonight was my last Tuesday night bible study with RoseAnne. I adore RoseAnne. She is such a gifted teacher and over the course of the past two and half years under her I have learned so much. This year’s study was on prayer and it was challenging, profound and authentic.
RoseAnne reminded us to live with intention. Our prayer lives must be intentional. Gosh, that convicted me. How often do I lift up a fleeting prayer instead of really focusing on it and believing God will do his will in his perfect time? A lot more than I care to admit. Oh that my prayer life would be more fruitful – and not fruitful as in answered prayers, but fruitful as in a deeper relationship with the Lord.
She also reminded us that the life of Christ is in us. I know, that seems so trite, but think about it. When you feel overwhelmed or not worthy of Christ’s love remember, he is already in you! And, as you know Christ more, grow in relationship with him and are in his word you will experience the growth of the spirit… these are all such great reminders for me… and I hope they encourage you as well.
RoseAnne closed by reading Psalm 92:12-15, which Miss Helen always referred to as the secret of riches.
Psalm 92:12-15 (Amplified Bible)
12The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible].
13Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14[Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment].
15[They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Below is a photo of me with RoseAnne. I am trying not to laugh in the photo. I just love it. So genuine.
I had the priviledge to lead an incredible group of women this year too. They come from such different backgrounds and brought a wealth of personality and hunger for the Lord to the table. It was very special. They taught me much more than I ever could have taught them. Here is a picture of the group, minus our dear Susan.
Lastly, there’s Cindy – my mentor and friend. She was my small group leader when I first came to Fellowship and God has since blessed my life with her friendship. For the past two years, she has overseen Tuesday night study and been such a positive force. Like RoseAnne, she challenges me and encourages me so much. Tonight she reminded the group that we are called to GREATER FREEDOM in prayer. Wow. Here we are…
Good night dear friends. I hope these words encourage you as they did me tonight.
Jess, tears came to my eyes as I read your post. How I wish I had had the love for God and the desire to please Him as you do when I was your age. One of the reasons I am teaching the ladies Bible study is because I want to share my desire to seek His heart with others. We take for granted what we have in Christ and Oh how we need to be reminded that our Redeemer lives and He is alive in us. TFS momt
I love you, baby. So much.
Your words and insights and scripture DID encourage me here. SO, thanks for that. I hope that your headaches can be resolved soon…through medication, or healing from God. I will pray for you. I had terrible headaches after our incident, and I struggled with the littlest things in life. Just wanted you to know that I understand your pain to a certain degree. Not fun…but a good reason to come before God and have to trust Him for healing.
Also, I think it is in Colossians 2or 3:9 & 10 {I think}, that talks about the fullness of Christ. I have loved and claimed that for several years…that we can be FULL of Hope if Christ is in us…because He IS Hope. We can be full of Joy. Because HE IS Joy. Fill in the blank with whatever it is you need…and it can be yours to the fullest, because of Christ. It is a simple, yet radical truth. And definitely one that I try to live out in my life. Even in the midst of struggles.
Best to you this week. Loved all your scrap pages posted here. I should get my hands on some Hambly! =)
