Nana and Auntie Sissy
My mom and sister drove down from Wisconsin Sunday to meet Elias. I am exhausted right now (it’s 5 am Monday and Elias just had a feeding), but wanted to at least post pics from when they first got here. So sweet.
And here’s a pic to prove how tired I am…(look at my sleepy eyes… they aren’t much better than Eli’s). I can’t wait to go home today. It will be nice to not have nurses constantly in and out taking my temperature, asking about my urine output, etc. lol. I have never stayed in the hospital before, so it has been quite the experience. 🙂
Precious! Family is bound to be an added comfort during the craziness. 🙂
I sent an email to your gmail account. I hope you read it soon, though I understand it may be a few days.
Much love — Mal
You still look great even when you’re tired! Have fun with the fam!
I think you look amazing! I’m so glad your family is there to help as well! LET THEM! :O) Have a wonderful day going home!

so sweet. looks like being a mom agrees with you. wishing you all the happiness….take care.
i followed your labor/delivery after linking through angie’s blog! 🙂 CONGRATULATIONS!! my oldest daughter turned 14 on july 12, so we were EXCITED!! 🙂 CONGRATULATIONS again – he’s such a cutie – and you are awesome – what a LONG labor & delivery 🙁 but it’s over and you have your precious little boy in your arms – GOD IS GOOD!!
p.s. LOVE your sister’s PACKER hat! 🙂
Good morning!!!
How precious is the picture of Elias and his nana. How absolutely beautiful.
I was glad to hear you are going home today- I figured as much.
I know when you are home it is wonderful after having been bothered every 10 minutes with nurses, visitors etc.
Let you family help you with EVERYTHING!! Do not try to be super mom. You are to rest and let others help. Sleep when you can too.
That helps you store up your energy for in the middle of the night.
I think you look beautiful.
You are a new momma and are to look tired. If you did not I would be concerned. 🙂
God Bless
HAppy First Day Home!!!!!
Love Michele
Beautiful.
You look like a woman in love.
What beautiful pictures! I can’t believe my cousin is a Nana, and that you are a Mommy…enjoy your first day home!
Praying for you from an encouraged reader of your blog and Angie Smith’s. She is so lucky to have a friend like you.
Best wishes for you and your gorgeous son. He’s beautiful and I love his name!

Aw how cute. Love the new pics.
And yes i remember so well staying in the hospital…after three times though you get used to the nurses asking you such personal questions.
Jessica, I found you from Angie’s blog, and I’m a fellow believer and scrapbooking addict.
Congratulations on the healthy arrival of Elias, and that photo of the two of you will be so special as the years go by, sleepy eyes and all. Beautiful!
Hi Jessica,
Popped over here from Angie’s blog.
CONGRATULATIONS! God was really showing off when He made Elias. What a punkin!
I’m wishing you and your family many blessings!
Love and Hugs!
Two things inquiring minds want to know:
1) Did you ever get the Mint Chapstick? It was so nice when that commenter offered to go get some and your dad thanked him. So sweet, it brought tears to my eyes.
2) Please show us a picture of Elias in the outfit that Angie thinks is too big for him? You know, the outfit y’all were talking about in one of those hilarious videos.
Thanks! 🙂
Doesn’t it just feel so great to be home?!?! I was ready to leave the hospital after giving birth, and I LIKE hospitals.
Anyway, he is a doll and those pictures you got of your mom and sister are TOO TOO TOO precious! You’re a fantastic photographer!!!
Sleep whenever he does – let everyone else DO everything else – until they leave! 🙂
God bless – you’re doing a GREAT job with him. 😉 Happy Mom!
Congratulations Jessica! I have followed your pregnancy a bit through Angie’s blog, and I’m a scrapbook lover… added bonus!
Elias is stunning, he is so beautiful!
You look as if you are filled with joy, and that is more evident than how tired you are! Those early morning feedings were the worst for me, I would fall asleep no matter where I was!
Let your mom and sister help you so that you can get your rest (and maybe let them do your laundry, clean, grocery shop), you’ll be so glad that you did! 🙂
Your son is beautiful! Great job Jessica! I am so glad it all worked out. Congratulations!
I’ve been keeping up with you guys through Angie’s blog. I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes at how beautiful your family is. Brought back lots of memories of the births of my 3 kids. (I had the massive migraine from the epidural too)!! What a special time this is for you guys. Don’t take a minute for granted..it goes by too quickly. Congrats on your beautiful son. My prayers are with you guys.
He’s beautiful! I’m so glad the family got down there to see you! Congrats family. and Debbie – I would work for you anyday at a time like this! Congratulations again! 🙂

They wake you up in hospitals just to ask if you are sleeping well!
You still look adorable and Elias is pretty cute too. I love the first pic, I love those cute baby cheeks 🙂
I hope the transition to being home and adjusting to a newborn goes well. I hope that you soak up every precious minute…because even though they are exhausting, they will go by much too quickly! Thanks for all the updates and I pray you all will just fall in love with each other more and more each day. Take care! {And take lots of pictures too!} =)
I’ve been following your blog for a while and just wanted to say how happy I am for you and Matthew. Elias is beautiful. You have many fun and challenging days ahead – more fun than challenging thankfully. Savor every moment, but get some rest!

Congrats on your baby boy! Wish you all the best!
Congrats on the new baby!! He is so sweet–just love those cute cheeks! 🙂
I had to laugh when I saw your video after your husband went home for sleep. You seemed a bit disgruntled 🙂 I was the same way with my first one, insisted my husband stay each and every moment because that was what he was suppose to do–I needed his help! Boy, was that a disaster. I, too, had long stressful delivery and was WAY exhausted. My husband did his best to stay with me but then we ended with two exhausted parents who sniped and grumped at each other. Neither of us knew how to breastfeed (even after I made him go to the class with me *wink*) and we were both completely overwhelmed and unable to remember any details. *sigh* DH then got sick from being so tired and was completley out of commission for several days. It was a long first month!
Fast forward to my second baby (only 18 mos after first), I sent that man HOME after I delivered and told him to get his rest because when he came back, he was “on duty” so I could get some rest! This worked much better–tag teaming the whole sleep thing. Once rested, he was able to help me remember all those nitty gritty details about breastfeeding when my sweet but tongue tied second son could not latch on. He also handled the line of guests at the door, the cooking, the cleaning, etc. I was still overwhelmed but at least I knew he was rested and raring to go! Everything was much more pleasant the second time around when we had at least one parent relatively rested.
Anyway, hang in there! Babies are such a blessing.
