Weekend Photo Shoot
Okay, you are going to laugh. About 4-6 weeks ago, I was going through pictures of Elias’s first 6 weeks and felt like I did not take enough pictures of him when he was really small. (I actually cried about it.) So, just about every weekend I now try to do a little photo shoot with him. Matthew has gotten into it too. We both took pictures of Elias on Sunday. Here are some of my favorites.
so adorable 🙂 i love it!
Wow! You have way more pictures of your little man than I had of any of my babies at that age and I thought I took lots of pictures!
He’s adorable, by the way.

One more thing. Here are the shots I didn’t get or get enough of. You may get some ideas.
Profile pics. I have oodles of straight on smiles, but I only have a few profile ones and they are PRECIOUS.
Head shots taken from above. I love to look at these and remember what that sweet little face (or top of head) looked like when I looked down at it. (I can almost smell it, too.)
Hands and feet pics. I could eat them even now when I look back at them.
Candid shots. Ones with family members or all alone. I can almost see their minds working in these.
And my absolute favorites: When they were old enough, I had my babies stand outside the tub while I ran the water. Naked, of course. They would get so excited and I would just shoot away. Cute booty shots and back of neck.
Hope I gave you some ideas you can use.

I totally understand how you feel! I have a 4 week old who is our second child and I got really sad the other day when I realized we didn’t have as many pictures of him as we did of his sister!
I think southern gal’s suggestions are great. Another picture I like are pictures of me breastfeeding. I had DH take them so I remember what I looked like doing it, and I also took shots from my point of view of what they looked like (because they make some pretty sweet faces while they eat!). We had professional pics done at 5 months old and I had the photographer take some bf’ing shots too. They turned out really great! Those pictures are for the private collection 🙂
My first instinct was to ask how many photos you actually took… but then I realized that it will never really feel like enough, because you love him so much. And because he has more kinds of smiles and coos and babbles and giggles than a photo can take. But it’s so clear you’re really living your moments with him… and that’s what you’ll remember.
Well, that, and all the beautiful scrapbooks and blog posts and photo shoots… you’re doing such a great job. And the one of Elias’ bum with his feet crossed made me want to fly to Nashville and hold him immediately.
Just a warning 🙂
Jessica,
I can totally feel for ya in the area of picture taken. I am a self confessed scrapoholic and still feel like I didn’t capture my daughter’s first few months of life. The lask of sleep does wonders to a person’s brain. For my second daughter I created a scrapbook entitled “Mondays with Hattie”. She was born Monday, September 11, 2006. Every Monday I took a picture of her and wrote a little something about my feelings for her or what she was doing. This was in addition to her first year albumn. I have all the pieces to complete that album.
So, I encourgae you to snap, snap, snap, those pictures!
Those pictures are adorable Jessica. I love that onesie – especially that back of it!:) I know the feeling of not enough pictures, it’s hard keeping up with my 2nd one but I’m determined to try!:)
That’s cute. I’m sure I would cry too…so, when I have my boy in December…I’ll be sure to take many, many pictures so I don’t miss out on a thing. (I don’t mean to be offensive…I’m sure no matter how many pics I take…I’ll feel like it’s not enough.)
BTW..I’m sure you took plenty of pics. 🙂 But, I think I can understand how you feel. Just know your blog rocks and you have captured many precious things on it. I think I’ll adopt the “Mondays with Hattie” idea…or whatever day my baby is born on. Good idea ScrappyB.
Love those twinkly eyes! He looks like a very happy baby :).
He is just precious! My son has that same onesie in 12 month size, and I must say I’m not too sad that he STILL fits in it even though he’s 19 months old. (He’s a peanut!) I put it on him on Mother’s Day and got some good butt shots with the little star on it. =o) My motto is you can never take too many pictures. I don’t know anyone who ever regrets them. Even my husband and friends who whine about all of my shots during every possible event of our lives are the same ones who want copies later! You go, girl, keep snapping away!
what a cute lil man! found u from bring the rain blog
