Project 365 – Starting Today
Many of you may have heard of the popular Project 365. The concept behind it is simple – take a photo every day. At the end of the year you will have 365 photos chronicling your year. I think that this year is the perfect year for me to do this! One reason I have not done this in the past is that I never knew how I would showcase all the photos/stories that went with them. To be honest, it overwhelmed me.
CK is releasing another Becky Higgins Kit of the Month (she also developed the baby kit I showcased during the best in baby scrapbooking) specifically for Project 365 on January 1 (CK has been promoting this kit a lot, so I would be sure to order it on January 1). I have not seen it in person, but I am so excited about it. It has divided page protectors, hundreds of journaling blocks and even comes with an album. Check out Becky’s blog for a few videos she has made showing the kit and discussing the project. I think this kit would be great for people who don’t consider themselves scrapbookers because it is literally sticking photos in page protectors and writing on a small journaling card. So easy and such a cool way to chronicle your year.
I am going to start my 365 today since the kit is set up to do weekly spreads, and I like the idea of doing Sunday – Saturday. It is perfect too because we are leaving Matthew’s parents today, so I will be able to get a nice photo of Elias with his Maw Maw and Paw Paw. You don’t need the kit to begin – just start taking photos and writing notes about your picture/what you did that day. I am planning on having a journal to go along with my Project 365 since I will likely only develop photos and journal on the cards once a week or once every two weeks. I just think that will be more efficient for my lifestyle.
Are you going to do Project 365? Have you done it in the past?
That sounds like a really good idea! I am very very tempted…could be my new years resolution. Can the kit be sold/shipped to the UK because I don’t think we have it in our craft retailiers here? xxx.
Great idea! X.
I did this in 2006. I never made a full album with all my photos, but it was still fun adventure. Back then, I only had a canon point and shoot. Now that I have my DSLR, I think I might play along again. Don’t think I am going to get Becky’s kit. Instead I think I’ll make a book at blurb (www.blurb.com), at the end of the year. Good luck with yours!
I’m excited and will begin today also, It will be better with my new camera.
@open – yes, CK will ship the kit internationally.
i’ve been thinking of doing this too jessica. it kind of overwhelms me, but i think once i get it started it would become a habit.
I’m just finishing my 365 (only 4 days to go!!). It is very overwhelming at times and it’s hard to remember to take a photo every single day, but the results are SO worth it. – Annie E
I am so excited about this kit and will be starting today too. I also got the baby kit – it is AWESOME!!
Hope you have safe travels today. Oh, and how’s filming for the Southwest mommy blog going?
I started on December 19(my birthday)..and I hope to keep it up! I think the biggest challenge will be remembering to print the pictures!
I have a comment to RACHEL above. I would love to do a book of my blog on blurb.com but if I understand it correctly, they do not do blogspot. Does anyone know of a place online who will make a book of your blog if you are on blogspot?
I haven’t done this before since I just started scrapbooking in April. It sounds like a great and simple idea though! I will have to check it out! Thanks!
@ Jill – I think that blogged.com will make a book from blogger, I’m not sure what they look like compared to blurb.com but its worth a try. I am considering making one of my blog to, but before I do I might search the inet and find others who have ordered a book from them and find out what they thought of it. Hope this helps 🙂
I am going to be doing project 365, I tried this year but failed miserably! hehe. I wont be getting B.H KOTM though, CK has trouble shipping to New Zealand (where I live).

How amazing! I decided on Christmas Day I would do the photo a day, as I want to really work on my photography skills. And here I read about it on your blog! I didn’t know there was a kit! I may have to investigate it…and probably spend more money!:) All I have is a cannon point and shoot, and I’ve never been able to rationalize getting a fancier camera, but I’m hoping as I work on this project and progress in my photography I’ll be able to begin saving money for the big fancy camera this time next year!
I have been doing this since the day my son was born…I currently keep an album of them on facebook, but I am working on a scrapbook so that I can just add in the picture for each day and keep it going…I plan on doing this as long as I can! I want my other children to have the same memories kept as my firt son does…I love photography! and scrapbooking it is great!
Wow, this sounds like a cool idea. I just turned 18 (Christmas day), so it might be fun to chronicle my 18th year of life!
i have not done it in the past but i am starting today also. love this kit and can’t wait to get my hands on it!
i haven’t done it in the past…. but sounds cool. is the idea to scrap and journal about every pic you take??
I haven’t done this before and it sounds like a really intriguing project. I’m not sure if i’m going to get the kit or not, we’ll see. I’d like to know more about it 🙂
Yes, I plan to get the kit! I just hope they dont’ sell out too quickly! That’s a great idea to have a journal…I hadn’t thought that far, but I know I probably couldn’t journal every single day. At least you have your blog, so you could always put some of your thoughts here and transfer them to your album.
I’ve never done anything like this, so it should be fun!
It will be a very special project that will be enjoyed for many many years after the completion. I need to check that out.
roommate,
this one sounds very intriguing and something I could do!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you for letting us know about it. i think, even for a novice :)…. that I could get a lot out of it.
LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!!!!
does anyone know how much the kit will cost?
Jessica
Do you know if you can buy the pages separately. I have seen the baseball type pages. I have not seen pages that have different size slots. I am not crazy about the color combos, but really want to give this project a try.
Thanks!
i have decided to do this in 09 as well (had a baby girl in oct and don’t they grow so fast?!?! but i plan on making it a general life project, not just focusing on her). it will be my first attempt and i’m nervous! haha! my mother-in-law tried to do it last year and wimped out early on;) i’ve even set an alarm on my phone to remind me everyday! am i being neurotic?
@Roommate – you should totally do it!
@Julia: I think the kit is $39.95.
@Amy: You can’t buy the page protectors separately. It is a kit, so you have to buy the whole thing:)
Hope this helps.
jill- i did some research after being intrigued by your comment… what a great idea!
it seems blog2print.com will print blogspot blog books… how cool!
I never really paid much attention to the Project 365 before, I never knew exactly what it was. I think I will be doing it this year though, it sounds like such an amazing idea!
I have been watching this product very intently for a few weeks now and I can’t wait to order it first thing on thursday! I started Sunday too, we had a bird fly into our house and it took almost an hour to get it out! What a way to start the album!
Jessica, I hadn’t ever considered doing the 365 project before but you have me completely intrigued! I took my first picture for the project yesterday (Sunday)! I even went to Becky’s blog and watched her explain the kit a little more. Now my biggest question is WHERE DO I ORDER ONE?!?! I want to be sure I order on the 1st so they dont run out. HELP!
Thanks!

I can’t wait to start it! Thanks for the idea. I am going to try to get some girlfriends and sisters on board too! maybe a monthly scrap get together to stay caught up! Can’t wait to buy the kit tomorrow!
I have never done this…but it sounds so intriging. Where do you get the kit? I guess I missed that. Thanks…and I enjoyed “bloggin by”
Project 365 sounds like such a fun idea. Where can I purchase the kit that you have pictured?
