On Scrapbooking
Little Yellow Bicycle/Xyron
One of the many perks of being on the Xyron design team is that manufacturers will occasionally share their products with Xyron DT members to use with Xyron adhesive. A little while ago I received some Little Yellow Bicycle products (Love Letters collection). Everything about this collection is amazing. Lots of texture, very versatile, and just really, really great.
I am in love with this layout. I wish you could see it and feel it in person (click on it to make it bigger). I know what you must be thinking. Feel it, Jessica? You don’t understand – the background paper and stickers are flocked with velvet! A-maz-ing. Flocked papers can be difficult to adhere things to, but not if you use Xyron’s creative station 900. I simply rolled the scalloped paper right through that machine and instantly had adhesive across the entire paper that will not budge off that velvet paper.
Lastest Baby Scrapbooking Article
Today I have a new article up on MyBabyPhotos.net. This week’s topic – scrapbooking those Christmas photos. With this past Christmas being Elias’ first, I went crazy with the pictures. My article offers some good tips for making your Christmas scrapbooking manageable – hint: don’t scrapbook everything! Here are the layouts I created for the piece (again, click to make them bigger).
This layout is about Elias’ fascination with the twinkling Christmas lights.
This layout is about Elias not being sure what to think about all the presents at Christmas. Check out Elias’ paci – it looks so funny when he sucks on it. But he likes it best because he can easily pull it out of his mouth – silly boy. I can only find them at Walgreens. What’s nice is that they have the same kind of nipple as the nuk brand. Okay, back to scrapbooking… 🙂
The snowflakes are ki lace. I adhered them using my Xyron 900. I can’t imagine using any oher adhesive for ki lace – the Xyron makes it so easy! No tedious gluing – just roll and adhere!
This family layout was also made using all Little Yellow Bicycle products (except the Thickers letters). The layout is actually a scallopped circle – the white background is from my scanner.

oh i love the little yellow bicycle page you did! and what a precious photo!
I’ve been painting letters, frames, and other art for my soon-to-be-born baby’s nursery. (pics here: http://mattandjesskelley.blogspot.com/2009/01/nursery-unveiled.html)
I’ve also been catching up on some scrapbooking, since I haven’t felt like it for much of my pregnancy. (No pics of my layouts, but I did use thickers for the first time, after seeing your many recommendations of them!)
I just started to scrapbook again after taking a few years off. As of tonight I am working on the three bridal showers…and then it’s onto the wedding which took place in June, 2007 (I’m just a tad bit behind) 🙂
Where do you get the letters that you use for the phrases….”Full of wander” “not sure” “twinkling” ???
Jessica, you have a major talent and such creativity!!! 🙂
Ok, before I even say this I’m going to acknowledge that I know how sappy and cheesy I am… but the fact that the photo in the first layout is an every day moment for you… just makes my heart happy. Talk about two blissful souls that were just meant to be formed for each other; such a cool bond between mama and babe.
Now that I got that out of my system… you rocked these layouts. I’ve been moving so slow these days but every time I see something you’ve done it makes me want to open those files on my computer and get back to my digital scrapbooking!
@RyanandJessica- Full of Wonder letters are Heidi Swapp and the others are thickers by American Crafts. You can get thickers online at SISTVBoutique.com (link on my sidebar) or Hobby Lobby.
Your pages are so beautiful!!! You do amazing work and are preserving precious memories for Elias.
I have to know…How do you find time to scrap book so much, blog often and keep up with Elias & other house hold chores?
I miss scrap booking so much and I need to find a way to make time to do it. I work full-time, my husband works a lot of night shifts, he doesn't get home until almost 9pm when he works a day shift, I have a 15 month old daughter who is VERY busy and by the time she goes down to bed I am exhausted!
Thanks for the great suggestions!
Jana
I loved the third layout – the picture of you and Elias is adorable. You both naturally look so beautful together! I wish I had your gift 🙂 xxx.
I adore that first lo too 🙂 so cute 🙂
and the pictures on your 365 blog are great 🙂 I'm keeping up with it too…it's kinda crazy. And it's only the 3rd week so I'm not sure what the rest will look like….
as for crafty things, I'm taking the red letters class at BPS and trying to decide on whether to tackle and "Ansel Adams" inspired album of 12 of my favorite photos in B&W from my computer…haven't stepped out there yet. SO just been working on my 365 pages, pictures will come by the weekend I promise!
i LOVE the full of wonder picture on him and santa! precious!!
blessings ~
I really enjoyed your blog…really nice! I have been trying to start scrapbooking but I don’t really know where to start. Do you have any tips on kits or even a less overwhelming way to start?
