Scary Bunny
Let me tell you about our trip to the Easter bunny. I went to one of the nicest malls in Nashville, thinking that surely the bunny would not be scary. Well he was. He looked like he was straight out of Alice in Wonderland. Big pink cheeks. Disproportionate head. Body of a skinny 20-year-old college student.
But Elias never cries, right?
And he likes everyone, right?
Well, normally. Unless the person… err… bunny looks like the one I have described above. Compounded by the fact that he did not have a nap yesterday morning. It was ugly.
It started out fine. I set Elias on the bunny’s lap and the photographer said I could take a few pictures (God bless her), so I got some cute ones of him smiling.
He was patting the bunny’s paw, pulling at his vest, so I thought, gosh, maybe he would like to see the bunny (thinking I could get a picture like this Santa one). So I turned him toward the bunny. UMMMMM. He started WAILING. I mean, full out cry, big crocodile tears. So what did I to? Asked the woman to please take the picture and then paid the $16 so I could have my own.
Wouldn’t you have done the same?
He did calm down, but it was after the picture was already shot.
He still looks a little like, okay mom, I am soooo over this. He fell asleep as soon as we left the mall.
Next year we are finding a different bunny. And I am thinking about writing the mall and asking them to consider finding a bunny with a different suit. There is no reason that the Easter bunny has to be so scary.

Erm…I wouldn’t call that a Bunny. I am not suprised he had Crocodile tears and that Bunny looks like something for Halloween not Easter lol.
Have a lovely Easter weekend in WI. xxx.
Our Mall has the same exact bunny “head”. I think it looks scary too. I also had the photographer take my kids picture crying on Santa. It is the funniest and loved one of them all! I have one of me crying on Santas lap when I was 2. I am now 39 and I love that picture! Happy Easter! Katie
Both of your cousins hated the Easter Bunny!!!!
Love you, Aunt Gail
That is one scary bunny.
That bunny would make me cry too!
That bunny is frightening!! My daughter loves everyone, too, but cried her head off when we took her to see Santa. It made for a funny story, but I felt bad for scary her!
LOVED those pics but have to admit, I would be kind of scared of that bunny too, lol!!!! Poor Elias!!
Don’t worry, Elias! I felt the same way when I was your age! Those bunny and Santa imposters are up to no good!
Okay, I’m 16 years old, and that bunny even gives me the creeps.
But Elias is cute! 🙂
WHY are Easter bunnies so creepy?! I took my son to Walmart today because they were taking free 5×7 shots with the bunny there. I swear he was straight out of a horror movie scary. I think I traumatized the kid for life. But he still had the presence of mind, through his shaking, snotty little mess of a body, to grab a piece of candy out of the bunny’s basket after the picture before high-tailing it out of there! My neighbor asked him tonight if the Easter bunny was coming to his house, and his eyes got huge and he started shaking his head. Poor thing! The picture is hilarious though. At least you got a few smiley ones. Elias will love that crying shot someday.
Seriously..that head was freaky!!!! Cute pics of Elias though 🙂
I hate to break it to you, but I think that is the standard “Mall Bunny Suit.” Every mall I have ever been to has basically the same version. It’s scary looking, and I don’t even bother taking my kids to see the Easter Bunny. I don’t need them to have nightmares of oversized bunnies, with big pink cheeks chasing them around 🙂
How funny! My middle child Caleb will NOT take pictures with the Easter Bunny!! He is 3!! Will not do it, but I guess they do look kinda scary! 🙂
JESSICA, WHAT PRECIOUS PICS!HOPE YOU HAVE A VERY BLESSED EVENING!
That is a hilarious story. My cheeks hurt from laughing.
Woah, that bunny creeps me out just a little too. Smart kid, that Elias. My kids hated anything dressed up in costume. Especially my daughter. She missed her first dance recital (at 3) because they had the bright idea of the teacher dancing with them in a Baby Bop costume. She was having none of that – (picture hysterical screaming). Thankfully I video-taped the practice before so I do have a record of her “dancing” in her cute little costume. Not sure why anyone thought springing that surprise on a bunch of 3 year old girls was a bright idea. Theme parks were a “bit” of a problem for her too. Poor girl. She’s recoved from her costume phobia now (at 17) thankfully.
You got really adorable pics of Elias even with Scary Bunny. I hope you had a wonderful Easter with family.
Be prepared for the same reaction in December when you take Elias’ picture on Santa’s lap! 🙂 I agree with lifelaughsandlove and think that is the standard Mall Bunny costume. I had my son’s picture taken on the Easter Bunny’s lap 7 years ago and it was the same exact costume!
Hahahaha, I see what you mean about the bunny, scary!! Love the crying picture, too sweet. Every kid needs one of those.
