Shopping for Christmas 2010
Like I said yesterday, I love shopping the day after Christmas. I gather up my Christmas gift cards and money, and hit the stores to find some great deals. And, if you have read this blog for any period of time, you know I love a good deal – and that I shop for gifts all year round so that Christmas does not negatively impact our budget. Especially with the way the economy hit our family this year, Christmas could have been REALLY hard if I had not shopped for great deals all year.
Deals I Took Advantage Of
After my successful shopping yesterday, I already have several people done for Christmas 2010! I found toys at Target 50% off, clothes at Gymboree for $3.99 (75-85% off) and gift items on Dayspring.com for 50-75% off. (Unrelated to Christmas gifts, I also found bras at Gap Body 40% off the clearance price, making the about 65% off and a cute sweater poncho 50% off at Forever 21.)
Other Deals
Today I was reading some of my favorite deal/frugal blogs and found out about a few other sales that I would share.
Amazon has more than 5,000 toys marked down 75% off or more. Prices fluctuate on Amazon, so I recommend if you find a great deal, buy the item! Melissa and Doug puzzles are
Toys R Us has a big toy clearance right now – January 2 with tons of BOGO free and BOGO 50% off.
Tracking My Purchases
Last year I used a Christmas notebook to keep track of my Christmas gifts that I have purchased. Since I buy all year long, if I don’t write things down, I tend to forget what I have and overbuy.
This year I decided to start a Google spreadsheet to keep track of my gift giving. I created a sheet for Christmas, a sheet for birthdays and a sheet for other occasions (like weddings). On each sheet I made a column of names, a column for the gifts, and a “done” column. The great thing about the Google doc is that I will be able to access it anywhere.
I hope this encourages you to shop throughout the year and find great deals!
