Help Haiti – Donate Shoes at Blissdom
There has been a lot of chatter on Twitter and blog posts about the clothes and shoes people will be wearing for Blissdom this week.
But I want to talk about the shoes I will be giving away.
I am thrilled that my client, Soles4Souls, the shoe charity that collects shoes for people in need, will be at Blissdom collecting shoes for people in Haiti.
Shoes that are not climate or otherwise appropriate for Haitians (ie: snow boots) will be given to others in need around the world.
As an added bonus, for every pair of shoes donated, donors will receive an entry to win an autographed pair of shoes by Rascal Flatts.
What’s even cooler is that for every pair of shoes donated, the Deckers Outdoor Corporation, which is the parent company of Teva, UGG, Simple, TSUBO, and Ahnu footwear brands, will also donate a pair of shoes for every pair donated at Blissdom.will donate a pair of shoes.
So, if every attendee brings four pairs of shoes to donate, that is 2,000 shoes+2,000 matched donation = 4,000 shoes for Haiti.
Amazing.
I gathered a bag full of shoes to bring to Blissdom. Here is most of the loot.
People who are flying may not be able to bring quite as many shoes. That’s understandable. However, remember, you are going to need room in your suitcase for all the swag that you will get at the conference, so you might as well allot for that room by bringing a bunch of shoes to donate!
If you aren’t going to Blissdom, you can totally still donate shoes to Soles4Souls. Check out their website for tips on hosting a shoe drive at your school, work, church, etc. They even have a cool fundraising program for schools, day cares, etc. I would much rather give money to donate shoes than buy overpriced wrapping paper. 🙂
Disclosure: Soles4Souls did not pay for this post. I wrote it out of my excitement for Blissdom and passion for what Soles4Souls does.
