Thankful for My Readers
When I started this blog, about four people read it. I saw other scrapbookers writing blogs and posting layouts, so I thought I would too. With Matthew and I living so far from our families, I also thought it would be a good place to document our daily life.
Fast forward four years and today The Mom Creative is read by thousands of people every week. It blows my mind that anyone would care about my parenting adventures, my scrapbooking layouts and deals that I find. But because you do, I continue to write, talk about the importance of memories, and find great deals.
I love it.
And I love each of you.
My eyes are watering up right now thinking about the community that has formed here. I am so grateful to each of you who inspire, encourage and bring joy to this site daily. Blogging has become a big part of my story, and I am so very thankful.
Since having Elias and with the downturn in the economy, our family was forced to make some changes to our budget. Without Swagbucks and many of the freebies I have shared on this site, I am not sure what we would have done. It is amazing the discounts and freebies you can find online – and learning the “frugal way” has made a life-long impact on me.
This weekend I got an email from a reader. It is a little long, but please take a minute to read it. Her story is so touching. I am so thankful that the links I have shared have made a difference in her life. I only share things that I do and believe in – and am humbled that they have impacted another person too.
Thank you to each of you for being a part of The Mom Creative.
Hi Jessica,
We have corresponded a few times in the past and I have been meaning to write to you for a while now simply to say thank you. I love your blog and it has been so helpful to me. I have been a long time scrapbooker and your blog gives me new and fresh ideas, as well as inspires me. I am still single and do not have any children yet, and your blog has encouraged me to continue to document my life. I have taken several mission trips in my life and have gotten down the story of each of them and I am so thankful to have those trips in the form of a story. You inspire me to create other projects and just sort of step outside of my creative box. You have introduced products to me that I didn’t even know existed and they have added so much to what I do.
You also introduced me to Swag Bucks–OH.MY.WORD. Where have they been my whole life?!haha I use it for EVERYTHING. I literally search everything. I then use this to earn Amazon gift cards and this has really allowed me to purchase gifts that I might not have otherwise been able to do so. I am a socialworker, and that is not exactly a profession with a high pay. I have a budget that I stick to, and the SwagBucks have been such a blessing to me. In the past year alone I have earned enough to get $100 in Amazon gift cards. WOW…that is awesome, and as I said it has allowed me to give gifts that I might not have been able to do otherwise. I really appreciate getting to show those I care about how much they mean to me by giving birthday and Christmas gifts.
As I said, I do not have children of my own, but I was a nanny and babysit for many children. You introduced me to Melissa and Doug toys–best toys ever. I love them. They are fun and original. AND, thanks to swagbucks, I can basically get them for free and can purchase gifts for the special little ones in my life. I also followed your link to the free canvas, and I got one, and my mom got one and those will now be gifts for others–Thank you so much for that. That is such a beautiful gift for someone to have. You also posted about the camera card reader thing (not sure the exact name) that you use to transport your pictures from the camera card to the computer. A few months ago, when I hooked up the camera to my computer, nothing happened. The drive of my computer is fine, so I am assuming it is the cord. Here I thought I would have to purchase a new camera.. Then, came your brilliant post and I followed your link to that handy gadget–on Amazon of course and bought it. And saved myself of having to get another camera!
Then most recently I followed your link to VistaPrint. I found a few free things on their that I ordered and some I will hang onto for gifts. Rather than personalize some of the free things I got, I put a quote in place of name. My budget just does not allow me to buy many gifts for others, and these little freebies, or gift cards, or whatever have allowed me to do so.
Just wanted to say thanks for blogging and sharing your life! You blog has really enriched my life and I am so thankful that I found it!
Blessings to you,
Kara
