What’s On My Mind
My apologies for the randomness of this post, but I wanted to share what is on my mind right now. You see, the Turner household is CRAZY busy right now.
Today I leave for a client trip to Denver. I will be back tomorrow at 1. The boys will be on their own. The only good thing about traveling is that I will get to finish The Help which I am thoroughly enjoying. I am also bringing Sarah’s Key to start. Have you read either?
Me traveling wouldn’t be so hard on Matthew if Elias had day care today, which he normally does. However, today our day care is closed because of the snow that doesn’t really exist. It is literally flurrying outside and next to nothing is sticking. SO frustrating. I don’t know what people do when both parents work outside the home. It also closed yesterday because of accumulation (of a half inch…). I am not making this up.
Matthew has a book due in less than two months and is in deadline mode. Two weeks of Christmas break (with Elias) and then a day and a half of snow days (with Elias), combined with the deadline, and leaving for Africa next week has him a bit overwhelmed. Please say a prayer for him.
Africa is next week. (I know I just said it, but I can’t believe it is here!) Matthew will be going on a 10-day trip with World Vision to Uganda. You can follow his adventure here. He will be doing some last minute trip shopping, packing, etc. this weekend. This is the longest we will have ever been apart since getting married and I am going to miss him so much! Thankfully, he should have phone/internet access throughout the trip. I am so excited though for him to see all that World Vision does first hand. It is going to be a life-changing experience, I am sure. Please be praying for him.
Matthew’s mom is coming next Wednesday through the following Thursday morning to help me with Elias. I am so thankful for that. She is excited to be with Elias for a week!
This weekend we have to get our Christmas decorations down. I am thankful I didn’t decorate much, but the tree will take a few hours. I am always a little sad to take down the tree. I love the light that it casts at night. It will be nice to have more space in our living room though. It is extra cramped with the tree AND all of Elias toys – which never seem to stay put away.
I also have to get my Southwest traveling with a toddler video edited this weekend. Life has been so crazy I haven’t had a few hours to do it. My goal is to have it done this weekend.
Angie and I are also going to get together on Sunday to do our first Bloom video for Same Kind of Different As Me, which kicks off in about two weeks! We are so excited.
Monday I am going to the social media conference SoFresh. I am really excited about it. I also have bible study that night. We are kicking off this study: Growing in Wisdom And Faith: James
by Elizabeth George. It is excellent. I love that it really has me in the word. (That will be another long day for Matthew as he has Elias on Mondays. Maybe we should get a baby-sitter for part of the day…)
Thank you to each of you who have filled out my short survey. If you haven’t taken a minute to do so, will you please? I would so appreciate it.
So, yeah, that’s what’s on my mind this morning.
What’s going on in your world?
