When Did You Potty Train?

So since Elias is almost two,  we have been thinking about potty training.

He sometimes wakes up dry from his naps and lets us know when he has pooped. He is definitely aware of the potty and likes to flush it.

However, he will NOT sit on the toilet.

We got him one of those potty rings with Sesame Street on it and he loves all the characters, but he arches his back and refuses to sit on it.

Side note: we are not planning on doing a potty chair since he has a regular potty at school and I think they are gross… 

He also does not want to stand.

So, clearly, he is not ready yet, which is fine. 

We are totally not pushing it. 

But I am curious, when did you potty train your kids (especially boys – as I have heard they are harder)?
