I’m a Mom: Scholastic Book Club
It’s strange how sometimes the simplest experiences cause me to stop in my tracks and reflect on the fact that I’m a mom.
Yesterday, Elias’s little backpack had a Scholastic Book Club order form in it.
To the average person it would appear that fundraising season has begun.
But not to me.
To me, it stirred up wonderful memories.
As a little girl, I loved the Scholastic book order form.
Each month I would carefully consider every book, circling the ones I wanted. I was a voracious reader and my mom literally couldn’t keep up with how quickly I read books.
Throughout my childhood, my mom wrote dozens of checks for book orders.
(Thanks, Mom…)
I loved the book order.
So you can imagine how excited I got seeing the familiar red banner in Elias’s backpack.
Last night, I sat at my desk, carefully reading about each book – just like I did 20 years ago. Only now, I am reading about books for my son.
My son.
I’m the mom ordering the books now.
And when Elias is older, I hope we will circle books together.
For now, I will circle them for him.
In case you are curious – here are the books I ordered for Elias (I got all of them for only $22 thanks to most Book Order books being paperback!
