31 Days of Memory Keeping
I’m so excited to be joining my dear friend The Nester and a group of fabulous bloggers (see list below!) for their annual 31 Days series in October.
I will be writing 31 Days of Memory Keeping and I am so. excited. about it.
This series will be for anyone- not just crazy scrapbookers. Some of the topics we will be covering:
- Creating photo books
- Storing cards
- Capturing stories
- Managing all those digital photos
- Project Life
- And more!
My hope for this series is that you will be inspired to document YOUR story. We take so many photos today and they just sit on our computers or hard drives, stories untold. It doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t have to take hours and hours. As a mom of two who works full time, I am here to say you can do it. And 31 Days to Memory Keeping will help motivate you to do it!
I have already begun working on my content and have so many fun ideas to share. My creative juices are flowing and no matter what type of memory keeper you are – or aren’t – I’m confident you will discover a few new ideas.
Apparently, Paper Coterie and I are on the same wavelength because they are hosting “Begin Anywhere Month” this month, encouraging people to document their memories. Check out their site for details and create something for FREE with their generous $40 credit. Just use the code BEGINANYWHERE. I made this new Memory Keepers box, which I am going to use to store cards from Matthew in. It is 9×13, acid free, and took about 5 minutes to make. LOVE. I have never seen anything like this on a photo website before.
As my regular readers know, I am a huge fan of Paper Coterie’s photo journals as well. Amazing quality. Easy. Beautiful.
If you are a blogger, please consider creating your own 31 Days series this October. It will be fun! There will be several places for you to link up when we kick off in October. I am looking forward to reading some great content.
Here are the other girls’ topics:
Nester – 31 Days of Charming Imperfection
Jen – 31 Days to Balancing Both Beauty and a Budget
Melissa: 31 Days: Inspired Holidays
Sandy: 31 Days of Keeping the Family Together
Darcy: 31 Days of Photo Tips
Emily F: 31 Days to Change the World
Emily W: 31 Days of Little Things
Let me know if you have any thoughts related to memory keeping – questions, ideas, etc. I want this series to inspire YOU.
How exciting! Can’t wait to hear what you ladies have to share. I am in love with Paper Coterie! I just received the @ Book I made for my son yesterday and he loved it as much as I did. We read through it 3 times and he was smiling ear to ear hearing about himself.
Looking forward to this!
xo.
Paper Coterie is running another $40 credit using “STACYJULIAN” – more details on her blog: http://stacyjulian.com/blog/?p=7788
Thank you!
JEssica, I have a large box full of photos in envelopes, plus many albums filled with photos that were all taken before we got a digital camera (now everything is on the computer and backed up on disks). I’ve started scanning the photos and saving them, but it seems like a daunting task! Any ideas for making it easier? And once you’ve scanned in the photos, what do you do with them? I can’t bear the thought of throwing them away.
Use an online service to scan all your photos. As for if you should throw away the prints, I can’t advise on that. I don’t know what I will do once I start this process. 🙂
Are you doing both a year-in-review photobook and Project Life for each year? I hope you’ll touch on this during the 31 days. I currently do Project Life (which I LOVE!) and I’m debating whether I should do a photobook as well. Is it worth the time? Is it a duplication of effort? I mean, would I really have that many different pictures for the photobook that I haven’t already included in Project Life. I’ve already decided that I’m not doing individual scrapbooks for my 2 kids beyond their 1st year albums and school albums. I’m a planner and I’ve been thinking about what I want for them down the road, once they’re out on their own. Do I want to give them a set of year-in-review photobooks from each year? If I do that, then what will become of my Project Life books once I’m gone – who’s going to want those? Should I be doing digital Project Life so I can make copies instead of the traditional Project Life? These are the dumb questions I’ve been pondering. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’re doing for your family. Can’t wait for your series!
This is FABULOUS!! How fun, I can’t wait to follow and learn! And thanks for the code for the $40 credit!!
