My Heart is in Bolivia
My heart is in Bolivia right now.
I love the theme of the World Vision bloggers trip because it so multi-dimensional.
My heart is in Bolivia because my sweet husband Matthew is there. As much as I miss him, I love reading his posts, tweets and skyping at night, knowing that he is being obedient to God’s calling on his life.
My heart is in Bolivia as I relate to Nish and recall what was like to leave Elias to go to DR with World Vision last spring.
My heart is in Bolivia because I long for people to discover the life-changing action of child sponsorship. I was overjoyed when I read this post from Sarah Mae and her family’s decision to sponsor a child in Bolivia.
My heart is in Bolivia as I pray for the World Vision staff, like Carla, who tirelessly serves in Bolivia and around the world.
My heart is in Bolivia as I ponder motherhood and reflect on the fact that my “trials” are not trials at all – these are trials.
My heart is in Bolivia when I watch a video like this and see World Vision helping children with special needs. Children can hear, walk and live because of World Vision’s work.
My heart is in Bolivia when I think about Sara’s Mariella and how thankful I am that we are sponsoring her as a gift to Sara… I wonder if others might consider sponsoring a child for a friend or family member. What a gift!
My heart is in Bolivia as I think about social justice exhaustion and I pray that it will not be true. That people will step up and sponsor children, making a difference in that child’s life and in their communities.

PS- The World Vision bloggers are hosting a livestream session tonight! Hang out with them at 7pm PST/10pm EST here: http://bit.ly/WVBB-LIVE (Please help spread the word today while they’re out in the countryside today!)
That is so amazing you got to go on the compassion trip. I would LOVE to do that. We have a sweet boy in Africa that I enjoy writing but how amazing to meet him! I love your sweet and tender heart for those on Bolivia. I can’t imagine seeing all STUFF we are accustomed to here and seeing how they live with so little. What a blessing!
It was World Vision and yes, it was amazing. 🙂
Thanks Jessica for writing about the involvement of your family in World Vision. I watched the livestream tonight and, for lack of a better word, they made it “real”. Thanks for your sacrifice while your husband serves those in need. God Bless.
Great post, Jessica. I would like to join you in asking that others consider child sponsorship through World Vision. Our family sponsors a little boy in Haiti. This is our second child. I was so excited to show my boys the videos of Matthew and the work they are doing. They were able to see why we choose to sponsor and that we are truly making a difference. Thanks to you & Matthew!
