On the Bookshelf
I’m at the beach right now with (in)courage. While we are having fun in community, retreating together, I wanted to share some of the books that are on my coffee table/bookshelf (follow our tweets and pics here). In the past few weeks, I have received a bunch of books to preview – many from women I am honored to call friends. I can’t recommend the these books enough:
Saving Savvy: Smart and Easy Ways to Cut Your Spending in Half and Raise Your Standard of Living…and Giving: My friend Kelly Hancock of Faithful Provisions has a new book out called Savvy Saving. If you have a desire to save money by shopping sales, coupons, etc., Kelly’s book is the one for you. It is fantastic.
God’s Heart for You: Embracing Your True Worth as a Woman: My friend Holley has a beautiful new devotional out called God’s Heart for You. What I like about it is that every message feels like it was written directly to me, and they include scripture and questions that really cause me to stop, think and pray. It’s beautiful. (Check out the inspiring video created about the book.)
Grace for the Good Girl: Letting Go of the Try-Hard Life: My friend Emily just released this book and it is such a beautiful reminder to those of us who grapple with trying to be perfect. {ahem}
What Women Fear: Walking in Faith that Transforms: And of course, as you have probably heard, Angie’s new book, What Women Fear is out. Every woman should read this book. Seriously. Go buy it.
Llama Llama Home with Mama: I have professed my love of the Llama Llama books before. This one is another hit. In it, the little llama is sick and stays home from school, only to get mama llama sick. LOVE it.
Smack Dab in the Middle of God’s Love: I have long been a fan of Brennan Manning. Smack Dab is his new children’s book. It is such a sweet story to teach kids about God’s love.
What books are blessing your family these days?
Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions! I might have to check out the “good girl” book {ahem} 🙂
