How Safe is Your Home?
Did you know June is Home Safety Month? Recently, I was invited to take the Home Safety challenge and I happily said yes. I figured we would totally get a perfect score, but I was wrong.
While our home was ranked safe, the challenge recommended some things we could improve on – most notably, securing our furniture to the walls. I bought the safety kits months ago, but we just haven’t installed them.
{not good}
If you haven’t watched this video about the importance of securing your furniture, and you have little kids, you really need to watch it. It is so compelling and motivating.
This weekend I want to encourage you to take 5 minutes and complete this home safety audit. Hopefully it either affirms that your home is safe or opens your eyes to some things you could improve on.
(If you live in Nashville, did you know that you can go to Monroe Carell Junior Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and purchase safety products AT COST from their Safety Store. Awesome, awesome deals. I have bought outlet covers, life preservers and more there – all at a fraction of the cost of a big box store.)
Have a safe weekend!
Disclosure: I was compensated by Kidde’s Home Safety Challenge for sharing this information, but all thoughts are my own.
We are in earthquake country in California so everything is anchored to the wall, but I am SURE there are other things we need to improve on. Thanks for the reminder!
Just this morning, my son pulled out a number of his drawers and his dresser fell over. Luckily, he was okay! I was right there in the room with him, getting his shoes out of the closet. Things can happen so quickly when your back is turned!
so scary!!
Great post Jessica so important….
