Project Life Tuesday: Falling Behind Edition
I started Project Life Tuesday in 2010 because:
- I needed to keep myself accountable and on top of my photos each week.
- My family loved being able to count on a weekly post with pics of the kids.
- I thought others might want to keep themselves accountable too.
It was a huge blessing and so I am excited to be kicking off my third year of this series.
Each Tuesday, I will share my spread from the previous week, as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts. This year, Epson is sponsoring Project Life Tuesday, and they provided me with their Epson Stylus R2880 Large Format Photo Printer (C11CA16201) for many of my album’s photos. Printing photos at home is hopefully going to help keep me on track!
Well, a busy weekend + a Monday night date night meant I didn’t finish my Project Life spread! YIKES. I am the most behind I have been this year. In addition to May 20-26 that I have to finish, I also have May 27-June 2. The good news is that I got my photo edited and printed and in the page protectors – I just need to do the journaling/embellishing, which I hope to do tonight.
I used a Design B page protector for the first time this year. I look the look of the 4×3 small photos. I plan to do a 4×6 journaling card in the top left slot.
Here is a glimpse of my spread this week, which in addition to the 12×12 pages has 2 6×12 inserts (I trimmed two Design As down to 6×12. The photo of Elias in orange is actually on the other page protector… he’s silly face is showing through a journaling card slot!)

I think we all have times when we fall behind, Jessica, and your layouts are always so beautiful! When I get the irl kit next year I’ll be lucky if I manage to paste a few things on in time for each week, I think. Thanks as ever for hosting PLT!
After 3 years of Project Life, this year I’m still doing it but with more of a weekly/event theme and I am loving it! I put together all of May in just a couple of hours. I print journaling from my blog as well as handwrite, keep all my memorabilia together and print the pics when Walgreens has them on sale. I choose the size page protector according to the pics I’ve taken. I’m finding I’m more rejuvenated about it this year without the pressure of taking a pic a day. I’m also using a few more scrapbooking skills as I put my page together. Sorry this is so much info, but I’m so enjoying linking every week!
I love the weekly theme so much better, though it definitely means more pics for me.
We’ve all been there!
You are doing great! We all have those moments of feeling behind. I have to tell myself that there is balance between keeping memories and actually making them 🙂
I’m staying on top of it…it’s my first time doing this project and it allows so much more freedom than the traditional scrapbooking that I’ve done for 12 years now. So – since it’s so much easier, I’m just excited to be getting it done!
I love, love, love the freedom!
I’m so glad that I’m not the only one behind with PL! I have a bit more to catch up on than you do, but that’s life. Between your and KA’s posts today, I’ve decided that it’s okay to…just be! Projects may not get finished, but life is better when it’s lived. Thanks!
Yep, just go with it! 🙂
Frankly, I surprised you’ve kept up as well as you have Jessica! You are one busy woman, and being a bit behind something you should cut yourself some slack on.
I’m definitely cutting myself slack. Quality time with my husband and kids is always most important!
Right now I am caught up! I usually end up behind when we are gone on Sunday and that’s the day I work on my pages. I have been using design B for my instagram photos. I’ve found it’s the easiest way to do it because I make a collage with 2 photos and then cut it in half. It’s working out well for me.
I usually work on Sundays and Mondays. I just joined a Monday night bible study, so I am going to have to be more diligent on Sundays!
I am happy to say I am actually caught up with my PL, although I am a couple weeks behind on blogging them. I like to have a backlog so that when I do get behind I have backup 🙂
Thanks for sharing your PL and this forum – I am more of a lurker than commentor but I appreciate it!
You are amazing to even get done what you do. I’ve been following your blog for just a short time now, but, am so inspired by you! Your family is absolutely beautiful and I look forward to all of your posts. Your children remind me of mine when they were younger and I get a big smile on my face seeing them — it’s so nice to witness the sibling love isn’t it? It’s so comforting to know that wherever life may take them, their deep-rooted love for each other will always be there. Keep up the great work! You’re awesome! 🙂
I feel like I’m behind, but I’m not really. I’m just a week farther behind that I want to be. This is week 23 (according to my weeks) and I just finished the layout for week 21. Which means I have one week without pictures printed and it isn’t the week that is happening right now. If that makes sense. I was hoping to do what you were doing, print/order on Sunday for the week that just ended and layout completion on Monday.
Anyways, thanks for hosting the link-up every week! I love the inspiration I get from it!
Yay for lots of family time. I loved reading your motherhood monday post. I was wondering how you were going to fit PL in with all that fun. 🙂
Have you considered always posting a week behind? I kind of like it because then I can have all week to finish my spread and myabe catch up on both weeks by Monday, but don’t have to every week. Then, if I do get both spreads done only post one week at a time.
No worries, Jessica. I’ll be in catch-up mode for a while, as I’m still in March!!!
That’s funny. 🙂
