Summer Nights
This summer, Matthew and I have committed to have fun as a family a few nights a week. We don’t want to get caught in a routine, which is easy to do, especially when you work full-time.
We have already done a few activities and it has really been a blast to make memories together, hear the kids giggle and just enjoy ourselves.
If you are a fan on Facebook, you might have seen this story about our kite adventure earlier this week.
Last night we met up with my college friend, Lindsey who was taking a road trip with another family across the country.
We hadn’t seen each other in almost five years – and we have had a lot of kids since then! 🙂
The kids have fun playing at the park, we had a picnic and then, after they left town, we went to Sweet CeCes for ice cream. It was the perfect night.
Next week we are planning to go see Shrek at a local park and visit a friend’s farm.We also are making library trip every week.
I have a board on Pinterest for kids’ activities for inspiration, as well as lots of recipes boards that I will be challenging myself to make this summer.
What do you do to break up your routine in the summer?
I am in love with summer! Hubby is a teacher, so we really try to make the most of this glorious season and break up our routine a bit. We have three boys, and we like to take them out for one-on-one dates once a week, or do things in our city that we’ve never done before. We have special treats (like root beer floats for a snack), and just really try to slow down and not be so bound to an agenda (which can be hard for my type a personality!)
I hear that – I am very type A. 🙂
I am in college and don’t have a family of my own just yet, but I have to say that I am the oldest of five kiddos and my parents had “family nights” with us every week, and we would take turns picking what we would do together! It’s one of my most favorite memories growing up! I loved it!! I think that is why me and my siblings are so close today and communication is really good between all of us and my parents 🙂 Elias and Adeline are blessed to have you both as parents!
Thank you so much for sharing this. What an encouragement!
