Unpacked Boxes and Clean Clothes
This weekend was very productive. We got a lot of boxes unpacked and are feeling a bit more settled. Iām amazed by how long it takes! Maybe by the end of next weekend there will be no more boxes in the house. {A girl can dream!}
In between unpacking boxes this weekend, I was able to get caught up on all of our laundry.
Whereās my gold star? {wink, wink}
I still canāt get over what a difference our new Maytag Bravos washer/dryer set has made on our laundry experience. Because the machines are so big, the volume of laundry I can complete with just one load is ridiculous ā at least double, if not triple my old machines.
Moreover, because the machines are energy efficient, they use 76% less water and 78% less energy than regular machines.
I have been impressed that the volume of clothes does not impact the total washing time. Youād think that a big machine + more clothes would mean a longer cycle, but I have not found this to be the case. On average, the wash cycle is about an hour and the dryer cycle is about 30 minutes.
In our new house, our washer/dryer closet is right off of the living room, which makes it really easy to fold clothes and be with my family. The downside is that all the bedrooms are upstairs. I already hate carrying baskets of clothes up and down the stairs and it has only been a week. š
So, Maytag, now that you have figured out how to wash massive amounts of clothes and save me time, could you figure out a way to get my clean clothes magically upstairs and put away in everyoneās bedrooms? That would be awesome!
Fun fact: Energy Star says the average American family does 400 loads of laundry a year. Iām confident this will be cut in half this year for our family simply by having these new machines – they hold that much more clothes than an average machine.
How many loads of laundry do you think your family does a year?
How awesome is that? There is nothing like being able to do two or three loads in one fell swoop! So happy for your family!
Congrats on the unpacking progress! I have large capacity washers and dryers, which is a huge blessing. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get my timing right to get all the clothes processed and away properly! I’m working on getting my scheduled tweeked. š
I am so good at doing laundry, just not the folding bit.
Same here! Our clean laundry adds up into piles much larger than our dirty clothes.
I hear ya on the going up and down stairs bit! We are a family of 5 with two bedrooms up and two down, so it’s split 50/50. I’d say we average 9 or 10 loads a week but I’m hoping this decreases a bit once the younger two are fully potty trained!
Just had to buy a new washer and chose a Maytag. Made in the USA. Awesome. My other was 12 years old (whirlpool) and it wasn’t enery efficient. My washer/dryer closet is upstairs with the bedrooms which was why we picked the floor plan when building. It’s a great idea.
I love my new Maytag washer! I’m pleased with my purchase.
I’m estimating I do 208 loads a year.
you could set up a family closet downstairs and just take upstairs each day what you will need the next day.
is that an agitator free washer?
No spot for a family closet, though that is a fun idea. Yes, it is an agitator free washer – so cool! I love looking in the clear top and seeing how it moves everything around without an agitator.
Just commit to being thankful for your extra space every time you hike up and down the stairs with your laundry š
We have five kiddos, live in Asia (missionaries) and have a miniscule washer. We also share 1000 sq.ft. My attitude towards what I perceive as “difficulties” determines how I face them. NOT AT ALL trying to sound ‘holier than thou’ – this is something I struggle to do EVERY DAY!
just sharing from one sister to another how I’m finding joy in my circumstances.
PS – first time i have ever commented but I really enjoy all the great deals you link to, most are not applicable to my situation but I keep coming back because some of them are such a blessing to me!
Yes, I’m so THANKFUL!!! And my butt muscles will be thankful doing those stairs – ha! š
Thanks so much for reading. Peace be with you.
The washer and dryer sound awesome – like a laundry fairy!
