Star Wars Flyers for My Little Luke

Happy Halloween! Elias was going to be Luke Skywalker for Halloween until a last minute change a week ago when we realized his costume that I ordered was giant. Thankfully, he enthusiastically decided to be a pirate instead. Adeline is going to be a candy corn I’m so excited to go trick-or-treating with them tonight. (I’ll be sure to post photos of them later this week.)

Elias is SO into Star Wars these days. He has only seen clips of the movie, but he loves his light saber and all the Star Wars characters.

Everything somehow relates back to Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. 🙂 Yesterday Matthew told Elias that when he is 7 a new Star Wars is coming out and they will go see it together. Lol.

One of the books I received recently from Klutz is a Star Wars Folded Flyers, which has been such a fun resource for crafting with Elias. It contains everything you need to make 30 Star Wars flyers.

I love that it has been a resource that both Matthew AND I can do with Elias. The instructions are very easy to follow and the designs are really creative.

Elias loves flipping through the book and picking out the flyer to make. Right now he is too little to make the flyers on his own, but that is fine with me. I love doing things together. On Sunday we picked out what flyer to make, then Matthew and Elias made it together.

With every one we make, Elias get so excited. I love seeing his brain processing the project and his imagination being sparked.

Plus, after we make the flyers, he always has fun flying them around the house or on the back deck.

I love how boy-oriented Star Wars Folded Flyers is because craft projects that are more “boy” can be challenging to find – if you can call flyers/paper airplanes a craft project! Ha!

Sometimes it is the simplest crafts that have the most meaning to our kids, isn’t it?

Elias is so cute! He and my son AJ are only a couple months apart, and AJ is very much into Star Wars too. My hubby came home from work yesterday and told my son the very same thing Matthew told Elias. They are going to see the new Star Wars movie when he turns 7. LOL. Of course, my hubby is huge Star Wars fan so he is looking forward to it.

Thanks for turning me on to the Dragon Flyers book. My son loves them and we use them as an incentive for having “listening ears, and a quiet body” at school and at home. He is always begging to make a dragon. I think I’ll get the Star Wars one for our next round. They are really fun to make and the pictures really make him think about perspective.
