Project Life Tuesday: New Products/2013 Goals Edition
I have not started my 2013 album yet.
And I won’t be able to start it until next week because I am headed to a 5-day conference tomorrow.
But I am not stressing about it at all. Life has to come before Project Life.
So instead of sharing pages, I thought it would be fun to share a video of the new Project Life products I have recently received. I find videos to be a helpful tool for selecting products. (Thanks YouTube for the awesome screenshot.)
Here’s a recap of the albums I plan to do this year, along with the kits I plan to use:
- Family album 2013: Seafoam Edition
- Adeline’s first year album: Baby kit
- My college days (I have 2-3 sticky albums per year.): Wellington Edition/Bridgeport Edition
- My high school days (2 albums per year): I plan to use one of the kits coming out in May – probably kraft or jade
- Heritage photos (I have many old photos that I want to get in albums): Olive Edition
The core of these albums will be Design A pages, but I will definitely add some variety when needed thanks to the Big Variety Pack 2
In addition to those big albums, I have been thinking about creating a mini album. These are such a fun addition to the Project Life suite. I received the Cinnamon album this week and plan to do a favorite pictures album with my most FAVORITE photos (an idea I got from Stacy Julian). These albums are also available in other colors including: Kiwi , Cherry, Rain, and Midnight
I’m excited to share multiple albums with you this year. I started my college album and it went so quickly! I took apart 3 albums, got them in pages and inserted journaling cards in just 3 hours. There’s something to be said for not having to think about editing photos and just going with what you have, you know? 🙂 I plan to share some pages from this album next week.
What Project Life albums are you working on this year?
This is the first year that I’m going to use an actual PL kit (Turquoise) and I couldn’t be more excited. Last year I started late and decided to use my own supplies. As much as I love the unique look of my 2012 album (which still isn’t finished, but I’m not worried at all!!), I am finding it SOOO much easier to use the kit this time around! I bought a Bridgeport kit to use this fall when my daughter starts Pre-K. I thought I could just incorporate it into the regular album, or put in special page protectors each week that are specific to her school items. We’ll see.
Like with last year, I’m using a variety of page protectors – both PL and WRMK. I don’t like the look of the PL albums, so I bought a fabric one from Michaels that matches the Turquoise kit.
I also bought the baby boy kit so that I could work on my son’s baby album. He’ll be two this year, and I put quite a bit of baby stuff into my 2012 album, but I still want to do one that focuses just on him. I’m totally excited to start that project! Part of me wants to go back and re-do my daughter’s album (which was actually set up similar to PL – there is a page each month with her photos and stats). I haven’t finished it yet – it’s only done up to month 7 – but I think that would be a lot of wasted products, time and money, when it’s mostly done already.
I think for 2014 I’ll use one of the new kits – I really like Jade, Honey and Kraft kits. And, I can’t wait for the Holidays and Season kits to get here! Totally excited for those!
Yes, the mini kits look SO fun. I am definitely looking forward to incorporating those into my bigger albums.
And I have a feeling that after I do Adeline’s album I am totally going to want to redo Elias’s. 🙂
You’re reading my mind! I was wondering whether PL would be a good way to redo my sticky album scrapbooks from high school and college! I might take this on once I complete my December Daily…
I’m so excited about my college album I don’t even want to work on my family album at the minute.
Wow you have a lot of photos from high school and college – I have just a handful! Looking forward to seeing all your albums this year 🙂 Enjoy your conference.
It’s so funny because compared to what I take now, it’s nothing. 🙂 Thanks for the encouragement.
Hi Jessica –
I am a PL newbie & wanting to start with a baby kit for my daughter (she’s #4 with 3 big brothers). I love the baby kit you showed in your video, but what album are you using??
Thanks!!!
I plan to just buy a pink American Crafts album.
I still have a bunch of cards from several years ago (I think it’s called the Cherry collection) that I’ve been combining with other stuff for years, and am eager to get a mini kit for a new look this year.
Wanted to share: an unexpected surprise in our foster care journey is that it is REQUIRED that every child in care have a “life book” that they take with them from place to place “to document and preserve their history during the time they are in DCS custody.” A) isn’t that wonderful that the state recognizes the value of telling the child’s story and preserving memories? In one foster child memoir I read, the girl spoke of a huge gap in her childhood where she has no photos, no memories–that just adds to the trauma they experience. and B) yay–a great excuse to craft another album! (Now if we can just get a call!)
We are in the process of possibly becoming foster care parents and I just learned about this as well for here in Illinois – it is truly a blessing for these kids!
Thanks for the video. I just got the Seafoam kit as well and love the modern look to it. I had Clementine last year so it’s a bit of a change that I love! I will be working on our family album. I’d love to add more, but not sure if I have the time just yet with two little ones! My 2012 is almost done (just December pictures to print out!) and I’m so excited that I was able to document last year in such detail! Thanks for these link ups-they definitely help keep me accoutable!

Awesome Jessica! thanks for giving a glimpse into each kit you got! .. I am now feeling the need to get that baby one. oye!
The baby one is ADORABLE.
Thanks so much for sharing this video! I have fallen in love with all the new PL products :). I have a LONG project list for this year, too:
– 2013 PL Album (mixture of various kits and sn@p products)
– catch up on several years for my nieces’ albums (Clementine and Blush)
– start baby album for newphew coming in May (Baby Boy kit)
– college album (combo of Clementine/Seafoam/Olive)
– Disney album (hoping the new Honey kit will work for this)
– Kindergarten album for niece (Mayfield)…already finished this one and am in love with it! All the journaling cards are perfect. Including photo editing and printing, it came together in just a week.
Sounds like you and I are kindred spirits. Awesome job on the Kindergarten album.
Thanks for showing us a glimpse of the kits, I adore the baby and Seafoam kits. I just love your enthusiasm.
Jessica, you inspire me, but you wear me out with all your projects! LOL! I don’t know where you get the energy, but then I’m a grandmother and you’re so young, but still! You amaze me with all that you do.
Looks like lots of wonderful goodies.
I’m just working on getting caught up on 2012, while working on 2013. If I can do that I think I might use Project Life to work on getting caught up with my boys’ baby albums.
Oh wow! I love, love, love the baby kit! Too bad I don’t have a baby. My goal this year: to actually do my main album. I bought everything last year, and lasted only a couple weeks!! I’m going to start in February, and I’m really thinking I’m going to stick one photo, one journaling card per day, because that will make it so much easier. I also just got a photo printer at home, so that will help a lot. I’m using the Cobalt that I got last year, but I love some of the new ones coming in May.
Love the video…It would be fun to show the collection of albums you left home with…lol I think there may be other crazy mom’s out there that wanted to capture every minute of their precious little ones lives like this mom did….I love how the thought process has continued with a better way of doing it….Mwa
