Project Life Tuesday: Week 7 -Featuring Dear Lizzy
Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2013 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited four-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky one-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all.
Each Tuesday, I share my most recent spread as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts.
As I mentioned yesterday, I was so excited when I received a big box of products from American Crafts, including the new Dear Lizzie 5th & Frolic line. This line is available at JoAnns now, but will only be there for a limited time, so I would definitely encourage you to check it out. Bonus: it matches Seafoam perfectly!
I decided to use all Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic for this week’s Project Life spread. I thought it was perfect for Valentine’s week – and not too pink. The only Project Life element that I used was the date card.
Week 7: February 10-16
Page protectors used: Design B, Design E (cut in half), Design F
For the Design B page, I started our by embellishing the date card. I think this might be one of my favorite date cards ever. I stamped the poloroid border on some 5th & Frolic paper, then glued the pictures to the cardstock. I journaled directly on the date card and added the cute 5th & Frolic brad.
I kept the rest of the page pretty simple, focusing on all the cute Valentine’s Day photos.
Since the first page was so heavy on photos, I decided to do the journaling right on the insert to the right (a trimmed Design E page). I had never done this before, but was thrilled with the result. Here’s what I did:
I first trimmed a sheet of the 5th & Frolic ruffled crepe paper to 6×6 and added it to the pocket. Then I filled it with some of the Valentines that Elias and Adeline received.
After that, I took a page from the 5th & Frolic daybook (these are intended to be pre-made mini albums, but I totally tore mine apart and trimmed the pages into journaling cards), and cut out the cute clipboard. I then wrote my journaling on the card and ran it through my Xyron 510 creative station, laminating the card on one side + adding permanent adhesive to the other. (Note to self – load the cartridge properly to avoid weird creases!) I then adhered the journaling card directly on the page protector. Because it’s laminated, it’s totally protected and because of the permanent adhesive, it isn’t going anywhere! LOVE how it turned out.
On the back of the Design E insert, I have one more Valentine’s photo (+ a Dear Lizzy sticker).
On the bottom I have a picture of the kids with a trimmed tag from 5th & Frolic. I love that this looks like it was cut with a Silhouette (a cool tool that I don’t have). I wrote directly on the tag, then added the ribbon + brad to the tag for a little extra embellishing.
Check out the other tags from the collection + the daybook I mentioned above.
Then, for the last page (Design F) I used all Dear Lizzy cardstock to make my journaling cards. They fit so nicely with the Seafoam kit. Most of the cards were trimmed from the Daybook.
As you can clearly see, I had a blast using 5th & Frolic in my Project Life album. This collection definitely works perfectly with the Seafoam kit, and would also work with the Olive edition. Be sure to check it out next time you are at JoAnns.
Project Life posts worth checking out
Becky posted loads of inspiration from her creative team yesterday. Be sure to check out all the layouts.
Your turn to link up! Also, just a friendly reminder to please remember to link back to The Mom Creative in your posts. Thank you!
5th and frolic was my favorite collection!!! I want to get my hands on lucky charm now. Love your pages!
I’ve never met a Dear Lizzy collecton I didn’t like 🙂
I’m freaking out over that date card and how those Polaroid stamps completely transformed it. Just awesome!!
It was so fun to work with paper and stamps this week – definitely think I will be doing more in the coming weeks.
Love how you used the Dear Lizzy line. I adore that stamp!
It is so fun! I am already brainstorming other ways to use it. 🙂
Love how you reworked the daybook. Adhering the clipboard to the outside of your ephemera is so cute! Thanks for sharing, i love this line too!!!
Thanks! I love the daybook in theory, but knew it wasn’t practical for me in this season. Ripping and cutting was a much better idea than letting it collect dust. 🙂
Lovely, I love how you laminated and made a sticker out of the clipboard. Really fun! I was at Joann’s last Sunday but I didn’t see the Dear Lizzie stuff, I will have to go back and have another look. I really like it!
I think it is just arriving to stores, so I would check back soon. It is SOOOO cute!!
What a gorgeous collection. I love how your layouts turned out using it.
REALLY love your title card. Looks really wonderful.
Love those Polaroid stamps! And I love that you used them on the title card! I so don’t need any more scrapbooking supplies, but I might need to check out our Joann’s for that collection!
Love how you put together the valentines cards and photos .
Hi Jessica! Love your Project Life Tuesdays! Just wondering how come this year’s posts aren’t being linked into the dropdown tab anymore? The last one that shows up when you click Project Life Tuesday is from January 8th. I always use that tab to find the most up to date PL stuff. 🙂 Just thought I’d let you know in case you didn’t realize they weren’t linked any more.
Maybe clear your cache or something – I just tried and everything does seem to be there??
