Project Simplify: Piles
Because I was in Salt Lake this weekend, I actually tackled this project last week. It wasn’t time consuming and was a good reminder not to put projects like this off. They aren’t as big as they sometimes seem in your head, you know?
We have a small table in our dining room that is my pile table. When I need to clear the dining room table, everything goes on that little table.
I decided to use this challenge to take the bull by the horns and clean that table.
Here’s what it looked liked before.
Please tell me I’m not the only one with these kinds of piles in their house. There were art projects mixed with bills and coupons mixed with magazines. It looked awful, but only took about 15-20 minutes to sort, toss, organize and put away.
The after makes me so happy.
Now hopefully we can keep it that way!
Do you have any piles in your home that you need to organize? If so, I hope this inspires you to tackle one or two today!
Thank you Tsh for hosting this challenge!
Looks great! I’ve been doing a lot of pile sorting lately. Just got so tired of looking at it.
You are most definitely not the only one! Ours IS the dining room table. It’s just my hubby and I and we don’t eat at the table often. We actually had to scrounge to get it cleaned off yesterday because we had my parents over for dinner. I’ll have to take a picture of my pile table now with just my PL and crafty stuff on it. I’ll tag you on Instagram. 🙂 Now I’m really trying to resist the urge to let stuff collect on it again!!
We most certatinly have a pile (or four) at our house! It drives my husband nuts. 🙂 It’s starts at the kitchen table, then moves to the bay window during meals, then finally to the dining room before organizing. It’s all things that have a task attached to them though. They take forever to disappear – one item was our daughter’s hospital photos that needed a frame. We finally picked one up at the store this weekend. Our daughter will be 8 months old on the 5th. 😉
You were right – it’s a huge relief to get it DONE! And, really, it only took me about half an hour to actually clean off my desk. I may need reminding about that when it piles up again in a few months. (Fingers crossed it takes that long for me to slack off…haha!) 🙂
Yes, I have those piles! My pile sits on the corner of my countertop. It is the same pile as you have – bills, school paperwork that comes home in 4 kids’ backpacks day after day, some junk mail. I usually tackle it once every 2 months because I just keep avoiding the mess; it’s awful!
Great job! I am convinced that we will never be free of the piles! At least not until after the kids are a bit older.
This is the Project Simplify project that I need the most, but I feel like it will be a short term fix. I am finding it hard to finish an area without coming up with a solution to the piles… This is perfectionism rearing its ugly head, isn’t it?
We seem to have piles in every room, clean up one and another appears I. A another room.
