Happy weekend, friends! I am REALLY looking forward to this weekend because we don’t have much planned. Well, I say that, but if you have read this blog for any length of time, you know I always have something planned. 🙂
Scary faces from my B’Gosh babies. Did you enter the giveaway yet?
After last weekend’s pirate party, I am really looking forward to some catch-up this weekend. As usual, I have a list longer than I will be able to accomplish. Tomorrow morning I am taking the kids to Lowes for their free Toy Story Build & Grow clinic and to the park. Then, we will come home for lunch and naps. While the kids nap, I hope to get some laundry done and work on my Project Life album. Yesterday, I got two weeks of photos developed, so that’s a step in the right direction!
Also, it’s my birthday tomorrow (31) and all I wanted was a date night with Matthew, so that’s what we are doing. I think we are going to The Pharmacy for dinner & Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream for dessert. Both have been on my want-to-go-to list for awhile. We are so thankful for our friends the Hayners who are going to keep our kids for a few hours. (Do any of you do baby-sitting trades with friends? I love it because our kids get to play with other kids, you can serve a friend and it helps the budget!)
After church on Sunday, I’m hoping to clean our garage and organize our storage room. It’s a bit of a wreck and has been stressing me out. Praying I don’t run into any more of these spiders. If I am REALLY motivated, I then might tackle the craft room.
As excited as I was about Will and Kate’s little prince being born this week (did you see all the conversations on The Mom Creative Facebook page?), our family had it’s own little prince born! My sister, Melissa and her husband, Dan welcome a little boy, Landon Daniel on Wednesday, July 24. Isn’t he a doll?
The kids and I are flying up to meet him in two weeks. I can’t wait! We are also going to go to the Wisconsin State Fair, which is a big memory from my childhood. I am so excited for the kids to experience it – especially the massive slide and cream puffs. YAY!
Here are a few links to enjoy this weekend.
On Deeper Family, Matthew and I chatted about the royal baby and some parenting advice for Will and Kate. You know, because they totally want to hear from us. 🙂
Ann’s post, A Letter to Kate: & Ways to Labor & Deliver Your Best Life gave me chills. A must read for every mother.
And then Kristen’s post, What Every Mother Longs to Tell Her Son made me tear up. SO beautiful.
My friend Danielle’s amazing site The EveryGirl did a feature on Lessons in Motherhood that has some great wisdom. Love, love, love.
In honor of my birthday, check out this post I did on my 27th birthday, which includes a few childhood photos.
One of the best parts of the Bloom book club this time around is that we did cooking videos. This week we posted our goat cheese biscuits video, and let me just say, Martha Stewart, move over. Ha! Here it is:
You can watch all the Bread & Wine videos on the study’s playlist on The Mom Creative YouTube channel. While you are there, consider subscribing to the channel. This year I have worked hard to bring you so much more video content than in the past.
My favorite band, The Civil Wars, have a new album releasing on August 6. This week, NPR shared an exclusive link to one of the album’s new songs, Dust to Dust. It’s AMAZING. I have been listening to it all week.
And last, but not least, remember earlier this month when I shared that you could win a new LeapPad Ultra? Well, the LeapPad Ultra is now available for preorder. It releases August 4 and looks so cool. (Update: LeapFrog.com is sold out, but you can still pre-order LeapPad Ultra at select retailers here) Here’s what it says on Amazon:
- LeapPad Ultra is the 100% kid-perfect learning tablet that is built kid-tough with a 7″ hi-res screen and Wi-Fi with kid-safe Web.
- Kid-safe out of the box, LeapPad Ultra offers extra parental settings to easily control exactly what experiences a child can access.

- Features built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery, Wi-Fi, peer-to-peer play, front-and-back cameras, MP3 player and more. Ages 4 – 9 years.
So if you are looking for a cool birthday gift or are shopping for Christmas gifts, this might be the perfect thing to buy.
Happy Friday!
I was selected for this opportunity to share about the LeapPad Ultra as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
Love your “what I’m doing this weekend posts” because they inspired me to be productive! Enjoy yourself!
Happy early birthday! If you’re going to be in town in a couple weeks, send me a message/email if you’d like to try to get together for a playdate at all! We were thinking about giving the State Fair a go also – those cream puffs are hard to pass up. 🙂
Happy birthday, special lady!!! Hope your day is every kind of wonderful!!:)
