Project Life: Week 30 Featuring 5th & Frolic
Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2013 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited five-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky two-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all.
Each Tuesday, I share my most recent spread as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts. This week’s post is a special 5th & Frolic core kit edition and is sponsored by American Crafts. Some links are affiliate links.
Week 30: July 21-27
Pages used: Design A, Design J and a Snap insert.
This week I was tickled to use some sample cards from the new Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic exclusive-to- Michaels Project Life core kit. All cards featured are 5th & Frolic, unless noted. In addition to the 5th & Frolic edition, Michaels also has an exclusive travel edition called Vintage Travel. SO fun!
When I first got hooked on scrapbooking in the early 2000s, I was obsessed with Rusty Pickle. I loved every design they made. I said to Matthew that is how I feel with anything Dear Lizzy. I just love, love, love Elizabeth Kartchner’s designs.
My first page was very simple. Nothing fancy. Just photos + words – just as Project Life is supposed to be.
My date card is from another core kit (I pre-stamp all my date cards so I don’t have to worry about them each week.) I added a Dear Lizzy sticker to it from my stash. The picture of Adeline helping me make banana bread (first picture, middle row) cracks me up.
Then I added a Snap page protector in because I wanted to do something special for my nephew Landon’s birth and didn’t want to just squeeze it into the other page protectors in the spread. I really love how this little extra turned out. (The Hello card is from the baby edition mini kit ).
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Odd sized inserts really make Project Life for me. I think they make the albums so much more fun to look at + they allow me to include even more photos in my albums.
On the back of the insert I journaled about gathering with a group of friends on Monday, a simple design filler card (Good for the Soul) + Prince George. Lots and lots of words this week, which I love.
The Design J was dedicated to my birthday. We chronicled the day with Instagrams (find me here) and I was happy to put them all in one insert. I love how girly the 5th & Frolic cards are! (FYI – these Michaels exclusive kits will not be available digitally.)
The last page was a variety of other photos from the week. I especially love the Target 90% off sale card. I also made a gratitude card (bottom right) thanks to some inspiration from Ali Edwards. Seemed fitting for my birthday week.
This kit does not disappoint (at least my sampling didn’t!). I think it would go great with Seafoam.
Project Life Posts to Check Out
I’ve always been a fan of Jenni Bowlin and was delighted that she is making more pocket cards that work with Project Life.
Be sure to check out the Project Life products available on HSN right now. Lots of good deals – especially on the Blush kit.
Love how Joy Embraced included a lock of hair from her daughter’s first haircut!
This Project Life spread on The Levan Family is so bright and summery.
And Stephanie Makes spread is simply perfect. No other words.
disclosure: This post is part of a paid campaign with American Crafts, but all opinions are my own.
Isn’t that 5th and Frolic SO pretty? LOVE it! Love what you did with it! Beautiful pages as always! 🙂
Yes, SO pretty! I think it would be a great kit to split with someone.
Have to agree.. love 5th & Frolic too 🙂 It would be great to match up with Seafoam. Another great recap.
Aww! Thanks, Jessica, for sharing a link to my page about my daughter’s first haircut. 🙂
I’m so glad I found your blog via One Happy Mama. Love your style!
Thanks for sharing some peeks of the 5th & Frolic, I’ve been on the fence about this kit! I really don’t need another one though, but it’s nice to see what more of the cards look like so I can really decide if I absolutely have to have it!
Love how you put together your layouts + I agree about the inserts, I love adding different sizes!!
There’s a Facebook group with people that swap and sell Project Life cards. Maybe go there and buy a 1/3 kit or something? I am thinking about doing more of that so I can have a sampling of more kits. https://www.facebook.com/groups/516332921746434/
Hi, Jessica….just curious, I had seen the snap page protectors at my local Michaels on clearance and scooped a bunch up but when I checked them out at home, I noticed that the sizing is slightly larger than 4×6 and 3×4 (about 1/4″ larger on each side) and stuff was moving around a bit. I already find that some of my pictures/PL cards pop up past the page protector slot opening when I’m flipping pages and that’s in PL page protectors so I didn’t think the extra space would be a good thing. Thoughts?
YES! That is true. They are a bit bigger, which is one reason why I don’t use them a ton. You could seal the top edge with washi tape?
That’s a great idea! Thanks!
Hello, I’m sure you’ve answered this question before so I apologize for being redundant, but how many albums for Project Life do you end up with at the end of one year? Thanks!
P.S. I agree with what you said about additional oddly-sized inserts. They are so fun to include in the albums. 🙂
Last year I did two, but should have done three. This year I will have three – one album every 4 months.
