A New Hand Turkey Craft + 15 Fun Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids
With Thanksgiving just three weeks away, I have been scouring Pinterest for some fun Thanksgiving and turkey crafts to do with the kids.
It turns out that the folks from the new movie Free Birds (released November 1) were also thinking turkey crafts when they emailed me about this new spin on a handprint turkey. On Sunday afternoon we had fun with our crayons and construction paper making this adorable turkey.
Free Birds made this super short and cute video tutorial about how to make the turkeys. The video features the hilarious Amy Poehler who voices Jenny in Free Birds.
The kids loved that a craft was starting with “a show” – I think we watched it three times before we got started on tracing our own hands. Here it is:
We used light colored construction paper to keep things very simple for our turkey crafts – and because our paper plates had a floral pattern on them. I loved watching the kids color together.
I love crafts that are fun and easy – YEOW!
Bonus – Win an iPad: Yep, if you to make one of these hand turkeys in the next few days, then email a photo of your hand drawn turkey hand, you’ll be entered to win a free iPad! You mean 3 weeks away right? (I just started to sweat when I read that)! Thanksgiving on the 28th…
YES! Three weeks – whoops. I fixed the post. It will still be here before we know it. Bonus: an extra week to make cute crafts! 🙂
What a fun craft! That movie looks like it will be a fun one for kids! Thanks so much for all the great Thanksgiving craft ideas.
We did the handprint turkey family when Elsa was a baby. I love to pull it out and see how little her hand was a 4 months. We just used the leftover craft paint from art kits the kids have accumulated over the years.

Sadly, my oldest are just about too old to do handprint/footprint crafts now as their feet don’t fit on the paper well. I’m so grateful I did as many of those types of art with them when I had the chance. Christmas, 4th of July…we have a variety that I will always treasure!!!!
Thanks for more fun ideas!!!!
I just love hand turkeys! It’s my favorite Thanksgiving craft. Thank you for including the Lollipop Turkey from Crafts ‘n Coffee, too.
such a great roundup of crafts, i’m excited to try these with my littles! (& I’m super flattered you included my Gumdrop Turkey project, thanks for the love!)
