Bathroom Remodel: All the Products

This is the second in a two-part series about our bathroom remodel. Read part one.

When I set out to remodel our bathroom, I had no idea how difficult making all the selections would be. I should have known. I read lots of design blogs (The Nester, Inspired Room and Vintage Revivals are my favorites.)

I started with the shower curtain. I knew I wanted something fun and cheerful since the kids use this bathroom, yet not juvenile. I think the Esprit Spice shower curtain is the perfect mix of both.

Once I had that, I selected paint. Devine Color sent me their handy discovery cards to help us chose the perfect color. At first I was leary of selecting paint without getting a sample of it, but the cards have actual paint on them, which made the decision really easy.

We selected Devine Guanabana from the Havana Del Alma collection. It’s a really beautiful color that is right inbetween a cream and a green. It looks different in different lights and is really perfect in the bathroom. I can’t say enough about this paint and its quality. I want to use it for every room of our house.

I then selected the tile, vanity and mirror. At first I thought I wanted white, but that didn’t feel right after I selected the curtain and paint, so I went with a brown tile similar to what is in our master bathroom. We went with a dark grout so that over time it wouldn’t show as much dirt and discoloration. I found the dark wood vanity at Home Depot and was thrilled to find a complimentary mirror on clearance.

Moen partnered with me and provided the faucet and accessories. Without question, the biggest thing that I learned during this process is that hardware makes a bathroom. I love to live frugally, but this is one area to splurge on. I adore the Sage line. It is the perfectly classy without being too formal. The pieces add an unexpected elegance to the bathroom.

I love how the faucet seamlessly fits with the sink, as if the two were made to be together.

My favorite piece is the double towel bar. We have never had one of these before and it is so nice!

Typically we have the kids’ towels hanging in front and the adult towels in the back, but I neatened it up for you. 🙂 If you want to do a small upgrade to your bathroom, get a double towel bar. It will change your life. (I’m so dramatic!)

The final touches, which took the longest were the wall decor pieces. The wait was worth it. I ended up “shopping” our house for the Adeline picture and the wreath about the towel bar. I don’t know why I am always surprised when I find solutions using decor I already have.

The baskets were from Michaels. I like that they are not too deep, yet can still hold a few practical pieces, like a cotton ball dish, as well as  fun things like a vase of daisies and a picture frame. Over time, I am sure I will play with what I tuck in them, but for now, I am pleased. Also, the box for the tissues was a gift basket that I received. It fits in the bathroom perfectly.
