Weekend Thanks and Thoughts
I woke up at 3:30 this morning to Ezra’s newborn cries, wanting to be fed.
As I was feeding him, I looked at The Fringe Hours on Amazon.
Y’all, do you know what it said?
This.
I could not believe it! (I still can’t…) For a first-time author, to be in the top 50 of all books on Amazon and ranking #1 in three categories?
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Thank you for believing in me.
Thank you for believing in this message.
Thank you for spending your hard-earned money.
Thank you for your tweets, Facebook messages, Instagrams and emails.
Thank you for your kind reviews.
Thank you for buying the book for your friends and family members.
Like I said on Tuesday, The Fringe Hours is my love letter to you. I believe so strongly in this message that I have spent the past 18 months pouring into this book in my own fringe hours — around a full-time job, blogging, parenting, pregnancy and more. And this week has made it all worth it.
All those sales say that women across America are embracing this important message that self-care matters. WE MATTER.
Some of you, might be like my friend Becky Higgins, who said:
“I feel such an excitement and joy for others’ successes and right now I’m feeling it for my friend Jessica N. Turner who has just published a book called “The Fringe Hours: Making Time for You”. I can’t wait to dive in. Ironically, I need to figure out how I’m going to carve out the time to read this before weeks pass by. I have a strong feeling it’s exactly what I need right now.“
You might feel like you don’t have the time for this book. I understand that feeling. The Fringe Hours is intentionally written in short digestible sections so that you CAN work reading it into a busy schedule.
The first step is getting a copy.
Don’t push it off.
Don’t add to a list of someday I’ll read that.
I have heard from countless women that this book gave them the permission they needed. From the online reviews:
This book was truly a breath of fresh air. In a society where we may feel compelled to say yes all the time and do it all, the discussion of intentional and deliberate life structuring was desperately needed.
Since reading this book I have read more, created more and contemplated what it is that I really want to do, for myself. This book isn’t about stealing time away from any of the urgent and important things in your life, but rather how you can find pockets of time in your schedule to refocus some energy on things that make you happy, or peaceful, or regenerated. I love Jessica’s voice and encouragement. It was a great, quick, life-rearranging read.
I truly believe that every woman – single or married, with children or without, stay-at-home Mom or working professional, young or old(er) – needs to read The Fringe Hours. Let’s start making ourselves a priority!
Since reading the book… I view my role as a mother differently. I’m raising two daughters who hopefully will grow up to be mothers themselves. I want them to see me as a passionate mother, but also a woman who is passionate about HER interests and self-care, like my running and writing.
So, if you haven’t picked up a copy yet, will you do so today? It’s available at stores nationwide.
As of this morning, I saw that both Amazon and Barnes and Noble have it for just $9.16, which is the lowest prices I’ve found. And you can get autographed copies on DaySpring for not much more.
It is a joy to bring The Fringe Hours to your lives. I am humbled, grateful and celebrating each of you today.
Thank you.
Thank YOU for this beautiful love letter, Jessica! God truly used your words (as I know you prayed) to speak to my heart. Now, I am loving sharing this important message with others as I claim fringe hours for myself. I enjoyed almost 2 hours of working on my digital photo albums last night…and just let the dishes wait!
Just want you to know we’re loving The Fringe Hours here in the UK too! It’s not just women across America 🙂
I am so very happy for your success, my sweet blogger friend. I am anxiously awaiting my copy of the book, maybe today! Enjoy the feeling of success and even more, knowing how much you are helping so many other women to make time for themselves without feeling guilty.
Congrats on the book success! I have been perusing new blogs to read and saw two reviews of your book and decided to check it out. I just bought it on Amazon 🙂 I can already tell it’s going to reiterate what I know, which is that I need to prioritize myself! It’s so easy as Moms to not do that! Anyways, congrats on the continued success with the book! I look forward to reading it and your blog!
Congratulations and Thank you for your great effort and time to encourage us as God’s Partner in our life. As missionary’s wife, it seems like I serve mainly the others to forget to have the “Me time” so this is agrat help to remind me to dig in God’s word and have the right balanced life. Even if I live in a different cotext the fringe hours help me to be more effective in my daily life and in my Relationship with the others, spouse, children, and my community. Glory to the Lord and Thank you.

This is sweet, fragrant air to these lungs! I’ve been tumbling the questions around in my mind for a few weeks on just this thing. And here you are saying yes to grabbing time to feed that inner longing that washing laundry and grading math tests and cookin lasagna can’t fill.
Yes, I’m getting the book and taking it all in. To feed that deep need to be creative, to experience & reflect beauty, to take time to marvel at God’s creation – that is what pushes the blood through these veins with warmth and passion.
Beautiful thanks to you. I’m so grateful for the trail that led me here to your site.
long time follower and online “friend” as I would say. I have the book and I’m so excited. I’ve shared it with some of my online friends and IRL friends. I’m seriously having doubts that I have fringe hours but I’m going to trust the process and try very hard. Since my 3rd baby was born I haven’t created anything. I’ve started a few pages and that is it. I need this. I need bible studies and books and scrapbooks and lunches with friends back in my life. I’m more than a working mom that “used to have friends and scrapbook”.
Thank you!!!! And Congrats. How exciting! Such a wonderful time in your life. Enjoy every single minute!!!
YOU SO Deserve it Jess!! You worked your TAIL off!! Love you friend and so excited for you and this message!
As a long time follower I say “thank you from the bottom of my heart”. I now truly understand that I must make time for me, that I am worth it, and I will be a better version of myself if I do so! Congratulations to you, your loving and giving heart is an inspiration for all of us!!
