Fringe Friday: Week 6
Welcome to Fringe Friday, an opportunity to share what you have been doing in your fringe hours during the week.
My big fringe hour project this week was gearing up to get my 2015 Project Life album underway. First about my album plans.
Album Plans
If you are a long-time reader you might remember that last year was the first time I decided to not limit myself to one 12×12 anchor spread per week (meaning, if I had more than two 12×12 pages to fill, I would use smaller protectors in-between the two big 12x12s). Well, between pregnancy and book writing, Project Life was an epic fail last year. My album stops in April. I would like to go back and finish it, but I don’t know if that is possible or not.
This year I am starting fresh and going back to my old style of one 12×12 spread each week. More photos = smaller protectors in-between the 12x12s.
I plan to use a variety of kits for my 2015 album. I have put myself on a Project Life product buying freeze since I have more kits than I will ever be able to use.
Photo Developing
You might remember me mentioning last week that I had started working on organizing my photos. Well I completed the project, getting all my photos developed from January – March 14. In total, I developed roughly 250 4×6 photos and 50 instagrams.
I used Snapfish to develop the 4×6 photos (they were having a 50% off sale and I needed to place an order on the site to keep my account active) and Printic for my instagrams. The Snapfish photos should arrive today and my Instagrams should arrive early next week.
An Instagram follower recommended Printic (an app) and I am so glad I decided to check them out because their quality is FANTASTIC. In the past I have developed my Instagrams at home or at Walgreens. They were fine, but not amazing.
But, y’all, Printic prints are AMAZING. I have only received one box of 50 instagrams from them so far, but I liked them enough to order two more boxes of 50. (They don’t let you order more than 50 at a time.)
Printic also offers magnets, photobooks, calendars and posters. Additionally, you can buy credits, which gives you up to a 33% discount on your print orders.
This is not sponsored in any way – they don’t even know who I am, but I am telling you, if you have Instagrams to print you need to check them out.
Bonus – they have an awesome referral program. Enter the code EECB95 in the order review screen and you’ll get $7 off your first order and I’ll get $7 off my next order too. Then tell all your friends so you can earn credits for discounted printing.
So go check out Printic and order some Instagrams! You’ll love ’em.
Next steps
My craft room is a hot mess right now, mostly because I haven’t really used it since the fall except to store stuff. This weekend I plan to spend a few hours getting it in shape and then do some major scrapbooking. I am so, so excited.
Next week I hope to share with you some Project Life pages! Won’t that be a fun change?
What did you do in your fringe hours this week? Share below!
Thanks, Jessica, for your encouragement to use our “fringe hours” wisely! I always enjoy reading about your Project Life progress, as I also do digital scrapbooking using project life digital supplies. And I am waiting for my copy of “Fringe Hours” to arrive in the mail any day now!
I would love to see a pic of your craft room! Please post. So glad I got hooked up with your blog and I’m LOVING your book.
Ha! We are going to be stripping wallpaper and painting next month, so I will definitely be sharing it soon!
I would like to hear about how you most often take pictures- I use to carry around a camera in my purse but since smart phones became so popular I just snap with my iPhone. The pics look great on my phone, however, often when I upload them on the computer to print at a online print company I get told the photo resolution isn’t good and the pics are fuzzy. How do you handle pictures?
