Fringe Friday: Week 7
Welcome to Fringe Friday, an opportunity to share what you have been doing in your fringe hours during the week.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know we have been in the Smoky Mountains this week. We have explored the Smoky Mountain National Park, seen shows at Dollywood, raced cars at Nascar Speedpark and more. It’s our first family vacation here and I’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks about what we’ve done, what’s worked and what hasn’t.
We decided to rent a cabin with our close friends the Larsons and have had a blast together. It is so nice to experience this vacation with them – our kids love their kids and life is easy with one another. I have savored the time in community.
Vacation with kids is wonderful, but it’s work too. At Dollywood I didn’t get to go on a single ride because Ezra wanted to eat or sleep on me the whole time. Walking theme parks all day has left me tired. I have had to be intentional about taking care of me during this time.
Being away has given me time to catch up on writing a few overdue thank yous, which has felt so good. (The cards are these from The Fringe Hours collection and they are BOGO right now! Details here.)
I also started three books this week- Scary Close: Dropping the Act and Finding True Intimacy, The White Queen and I Know How She Does It: How Successful Women Make the Most of Their Time. I haven’t finished any of them yet, but have been enjoying each for different reasons.
Lastly, I have squeezed in a bit of writing – here on The Mom Creative (so much good stuff coming this next month!) and in preparation of my first edition of The Fringe, my new monthly newsletter. If you haven’t signed up for it, you should (click here!). It is going to be really delightful, lots of exclusive content not here on the blog and worth a space in your inbox.
The one thing I didn’t do was start my Project Life album, but I am going to work on it this weekend. It’s been a great week. Can’t wait to hear what you have been up to.
In any fringe hour I get I scrapbook. Trouble is, my free hours are often at the end of the day when I’m close to colour-blind: makes for some ‘interesting’ colour combinations, ha ha! x
Me too, love to scrapbook in my Fringe hours or read. I’d love to know how you manage reading three books at once? I try but am not always successful 🙂
In my fringe hours, I have been reading your book and I can’t stop reading it. I am almost done. A wonderful book and I can’t say enough good about it. It is just what I needed right now. I am going to order several for family to read. Thanks for the inspiration!
