Week 1 Without Matthew
As I shared last week, Matthew is traveling until November 7. As a way to document our month apart, I thought I would try to blog weekly about how we are doing, our activities that week, visitors, etc. (I’ll probably print these posts and put them right in my Project Life album.)
Last week was pretty hard last week because I was very sick, as were Adeline and Ezra. I was home from work through Wednesday because I was so sick (I can’t remember the last time I took THREE sick days– maybe never!). On Monday both Ezra and I got put on antibiotics for bad coughs (Adeline was put on an antibiotic the previous Friday.)
Thankfully, my sweet mother-in-law Carole had planned to fly in to help on Wednesday afternoon, and she could not have arrived soon enough! She started doing laundry, cooking and loving on us all immediately. Having her here has been such a gift to us all, and the kids have REALLY enjoyed having her here.
Adeline and Ezra stayed home with MawMaw on Thursday and Friday. I think Adeline especially enjoyed having the 1:1 time with MawMaw. They went to our neighborhood playground, played lots of card games and read stories.
On Saturday, though still sick, we felt well enough to go to the pumpkin patch. We go to the same patch every year and it was a lot of fun taking Carole with us. The kids had a ball, especially on the tractor ride and the tires swing. I loved that Elias and Ezra were wearing matching shirts (Carters clearance last year) and matching jean jackets (thredUP). I won’t be able to dress them in matching clothes for very long! Ezra’s pumpkin hat was from Gymboree and Adeline’s dress is Jelly the Pug (Zulily).
Sunday, Adeline and Ezra still seemed to be coughing a lot, so I decided to take them back to the pediatrician. After doing in-office nebulizer treatments for both of them, the pediatrician decided Adeline needed to go on a steroid, another antibiotic and have a nebulizer treatment three times a day (poor girl!). For Ezra, she is just having us doing the nebulizer twice a day for four days and hopefully that will be enough. I went back to the doctor today and she put me on a steroid too. Hopefully we will all be doing a lot better soon.
Over the course of the week, Matthew was in Rome, Turkey and now in Egypt. We are missing him, but grateful for the amazing opportunity he has to travel and write. (Gosh, I can’t wait to share more!)
Carole is here until Thursday. We are looking forward to more time together and painting the pumpkins we bought this weekend.
Happy Fall y’all!
Sick kids (and Mom) and a traveling husband is no fun. I would love to know where you got your fablous hat.
I wish I could remember… I know that I splurged on it a few years ago. Maybe Anthropologie clearance?
Poor mama! I recall those days when my hubby was working two jobs and both the kids and I had the flu. Sending a prayer your way 🙂
SO sorry your sick!! You look perfect though!! Love that hat!!!! Share details!!
I should have read the above comments haha nevermind!
