Book Character Costume: Fancy Nancy Costume
Adeline decided that she wanted to a Fancy Nancy costume for book character day at her school.
The Fancy Nancy costume is incredibly simple to put together and it is likely that you already have everything at home to put together an adorable costume. Basically, the more accessories the better.
Adeline kept adding to her accessories – a purse, a wand, a bracelet, necklace, hair bows – nothing was off limits. Seeing her get creative with what was “fancy” and how to be more like Fancy Nancy was precious.
If you have a Fancy Nancy fan in your home, this easy DIY book character costume is a win. Also, I highly recommend the 5-Minute Fancy Nancy book. Pick it up along with a copy of When God Made You.
Things to keep in mind when putting together your Fancy Nancy costume:
- Fancy Nancy likes to have lots of things in her hair, but not often crowns. Bows, flowers and thick head wraps are her favorite.
- She’s all about accessories – purses, wands, etc.
- She wears butterfly wings in several books, so those are also a great accessory to add.
- Fancy Nancy likes color and dresses. Look for a dress that is girly and colorful to wear.
For Adeline, we decided to put her hair up, then curl it and accessorize with lots of bows. She thought it was perfect and hysterical.
We then selected a Hanna Andersson dress that I bought on clearance last year. It worked well. We added more color by having Adeline wear flowered leggings and bright pink beads.
I also let Adeline wear a bit of perfume because that is very fancy.
She was a precious Fancy Nancy!
