6 Ways to Save Money on Halloween Costumes

Halloween is next month, which means now is the time to figure out costumes and shop. By beginning now, you will save money, have less stress and be prepared for any unexpected early deals on Halloween costumes.

Here are six ways to save money on Halloween costumes:

Shop Early

By shopping now, you can often find better deals. If you decide to buy used, you will also have a better chance of finding the costume that you are looking for at a great price (because someone else didn’t snatch it up already). Our family did Super Mario Bros. a few years ago, and I was able to find Elias’s and Ezra’s costumes on ebay for cheaper than Amazon! Both costumes were new in the packaging too. I know this wouldn’t have been the case if I was shopping in October.

Shop Around

I love Amazon as much as the next person, but it is not always the most affordable option when it comes to costumes. Shop around for your costume (or costume materials if you are making it) to find it at the best price. If you enter a costume into Google, it will show you where you can buy it and you can easily compare prices. Zulily won’t show up on Google, but it often has great deals on costumes too, so it is worth subscribing to their emails.

Maximize coupons and credits for new customers

This is a big one! Many sites offer credits when you shop on their site for the first time. Here are a few that I recommend checking out (for Halloween costumes or just for other household goods).

Jet.com: This site is very much like Amazon, with a HUGE selection of products. Borrow Costumes

Kids grow fast, so a great way to save money is to borrow the costume from someone else. Post on Facebook and ask if any friends have the costume you are looking for. I was shocked by how many friends have done Super Mario Bros. after I posted that it was what we were doing this year.
