Wizard of Oz Lollipop Guild Munchkin Costume Tutorial
Last year our family Halloween theme was the Wizard of Oz. See the full post here.
In this post, I want to share how to make this super simple lollipop guild munchkin costume that I made for my almost two-year-old Ezra. If you are looking for a simple costume that will be a huge hit, this is it!
Originally Ezra was going to be the lion, but he absolutely hated the headpiece, so last minute I whipped this costume together. It requires no sewing and you probably have everything at home or can easy find pieces at your local thrift store.
For reference, here is a picture from the movie of the Lollipop Guild.
And here was cutie patootie Ezra.
Are the colors a perfect match to the movie? No. But he was DEFINITELY a recognizable lollipop guild member, and no one was pulling out a photo of the original guild to check the costume. Because I was working at the ninth hour, I used what we had, which also made the costume very affordable.
Lollipop Guild Costume Supplies
- Plaid shirt
- Striped leggings
- Long shorts or pants (Thin cotton work well for cutting)
- White felt
- Hair gel
- Large lollipop
Lollipop Guild DIY Instructions
Cut two triangle of felt to make the long pointing color for your shirt. Adhere with hot glue or heat bond.
Cut a triangle shape on the bottom of the shirt and the pants or shorts. I used cotton Carters pants, which were an easy material to cut.
That’s it! Because the costume was regular clothes, Ezra was very comfortable and didn’t fuss at all about dressing up.
Some hair gel and a big lollipop definitely completed the look. We kept the plastic on the lollipop for pictures was a good move because Ezra wanted to eat it for hours and it would have been a sticky, yucky mess.
