Castle of Water: I loved this book and can’t stop recommending it. Love, loss and adventure. In the last pages, I found myself sobbing, so moved by the storytelling.
This is How It Always Is: I will be recommending this book for years. A poignant family story about the lengths we go to protect one we love, the secrets we keep and how they can break us open.
Lilac Girls: This is my second year recommending this unbelievable World War II historical fiction book. It is jaw-dropping, especially because it is based on real people and happenings. Told in three voices, this book will stick with you long after you finish it. (I listened to this book on Audible and loved it!)
Ready Player One: Trust me on this one. I know it isn’t my typical recommend, but this science-fiction, action packed, 80s-inspired book is one you will fly through. My dad and my book club is currently reading this book and everyone is loving it.
Wonder: The best-selling book about Augie Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. The book is part of my third-grader’s curriculum and has inspired so many great conversations about kindness toward others. A must-read.
A Wrinkle in Time: Soon to be a Disney movie, this Madeline L’Engle classic about love, belonging and bravery is a must-read for kids (and adults). Now is the perfect time to buy this book.
KIDS BOOKS
When God Made You: With an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars, if your children’s bookshelves don’t have this inspiring, empowering, beautiful book, now is the time to buy it. While you might think I’m biased because my husband wrote it, the reviews on Amazon tell me I’m right. 🙂 Here’s what one said, “This book. Get it now!
