  1. My children unfortunately, witnessed first hand what happens when people drink and drive. As we were walking out of a restaurant a drunk driver plowed THROUGH 6 parked cars before crashing into a pole. The first car he hit was the one parked next to ours. My kids were terrified…they were 8 and 7 at the time. Now they keep a close on hubby and I when we are out. Only one of us can have a drink and the other drives. We also explain the reason we hang out with them on New Years Eve instead of going out is because a lot of people drink too much on that night, so daddy and I will have a drink at home and celebrate by cuddling our two favorite people and staying safe. We talk about how it’s ok to have a drink or two when you’re an adult and won’t be driving. Both of them are pretty set right now on NEVER drinking, but I’m sure that will change over time.

  2. Thanks for this post! I had always thought my daughter would ask about Santa and we would have that conversation, like you and Elias. My daughter will be starting middle school next year and I’m pretty certain she still believes. As much as it pains me, I think I will be telling her the truth sometime between now and then. It’s hard, as I don’t want to crush that child-like belief, but I certainly don’t want someone else to do it. This was an emotional Christmas for me, taking in the magic with her, but knowing next year probably won’t be quite the same. I look forward to this series.

  3. Hey – nice blog, just looking around some blogs, appears a pretty great platform you might be making use of. Im presently utilizing WordPress for several of my sites but looking to change one of them around to a platform comparable to yours like a trial run. Something in specific youd suggest about it?
