Romantic NYC Date

In June of last year, when John and I had been dating less than two months, he flew out to spend 48 hours in the city with me. Our work and travel schedules were tricky and flying out meant we could get a little bit of time in what would have otherwise been a long stretch apart.
I wanted to plan something really special and romantic for the trip. I looked at everything. Fancy restaurants. Helicopter rides. But then a friend told me, you should do a private boat ride. She recommended Sailing Islander, which offers a variety of tours on a small yacht.
I sent an inquiry and they had a sunset sailing available for one of the nights John was in town. I booked it, hoping it would be everything I hoped.
It was better.
A year later, John and I both agree this is in our top five memories of our first year together.

Here’s why this romantic NYC date was so great:
It was long: We were on the boat for two hours for the same price as a ten minute helicopter ride.
It offered incredible views: The views of the Statue of Liberty and NYC skyline were spectacular.

It was intimate: With it being just the two of us, it was so romantic. The Sailing Islander had a big pillow on the stern for us to lay on and enjoy the boat ride, the sites and each other.
It was fun: We played music, danced, laughed and just had fun together. John created a Spotify list of sailing songs for us and it is still a playlist we listen to often.
It was special: Many people go on boat rides in the harbor, but most rides are with lots of people. Being able to experience the boat ride just us was really special.

Sailing Islander is a small business and they were so lovely. They offer sailings for up to 6 people. I truly can’t recommend them enough. They gave us the perfect romantic NYC date.
