No More Excuses: Losing Weight
And yes, I have chubby feet. Always have. Poor Elias got the same feet.
I weigh 131 lbs.
According to my BMI, that makes me “overweight” (by .6, but still). Just typing that is hard to swallow.
I would like to lose 10 lbs in the next four months. That would put me back at my pre-pregnancy weight. (You might recall that I gained 60 lbs when I was pregnant with Elias.)
This last 10 lbs (which sometimes is 12 and sometimes is 8) has been hanging on for more than a year.
And it is my fault. I have become complacent.
Yes, I am extremely busy. But that can’t be an excuse any longer. I must do this.
For my family.
For myself.
It is time to belly up to the bar and get rid of it. (no pun intended)
My sister’s wedding is this September, and I want to look my best. (Even after losing 10 lbs. I am going to need to grow eight inches and wear three sets of spanx to look good in the dress she picked.)
Here are the changes I am making to my lifestyle (since I have finished my month of crazy travel for work):
- Drinking 60 ounces of water a day
- Eliminating juice and milk (both of which I love)
- Having a protein shake in the morning (I usually don’t eat breakfast)
- Exercising three days a week – maybe bust out the Shred, which I only used twice. (I haven’t been in a gym for two years)
- Eliminating sugar (with the exception of natural sugars found in fruits)
- Reducing carbs as much as possible (this will be the hardest)
I am also starting a new preventative migraine drug next weekend and am a little nervous that it may make things a bit harder. Weight gain is not a major side effect, but tiredness is, which may make things challenging for me to get up and go to the gym or work-out at home. We’ll see.
To help keep me on track I downloaded an app for my iphone called Lose It. You enter in your goal weight and then track all the food that you eat. It tells you how many calories you can eat to lose your goal – for me a pound a week. You enter in your weight and when you exercise and how so. You can also have friends – other users of the app – and they can see your progress to help encourage you. I have been starting to use it this past week to get the hang of it and am really liking it.
Thankfully, Matthew thinks I am beautiful just the way I am, but is also extremely supportive about this endeavor. I am counting on him to keep me accountable.
With these changes, I should be able to lose the weight – right?! Any tips for staying with it? This is my first official “diet.” I have lost weight before, but it is was due to a crazy detox I did to help with my migraines.
