Christmas Scrapbooking

It is November, and I am already giddy with scrapbooking projects for the Christmas season.

I have not scrapbooked much in the past 6 weeks, but that is all about to change, because it is time for Ali Edward’s December Daily and so much more. I thought it may be helpful to do a post about the various Christmas scrapbooking projects I am aware of and will be participating in.

First and foremost, December Daily! I am so excited about this project. Last year was the first year I participated and the finished album is one of my favorite albums ever. I have created the foundation of the album (8×8), but have to still add the numbers. Then I will photograph it and share it here. I think I am going to love the 8×8 size.

Above is my cover. The base is chipboard, which I covered with Claudine Hellmuth’s sticky backed canvas, painted red and then modge podged Christmas elements to. It turned out beautiful. I will be doing this album along with my 365. I don’t expect that all the pictures will be the same, though some inevitably will. You can find more information on Ali’s blog.

Shimelle’s Journal Your Christmas: Last year I became aware of Shimelle’s Journal Your Christmas project. Essentially it is a scrapbooking project of prompts and inspiration provided by Shimelle every day of December – January 6. I have heard excellent things about the class and decided to finally take the leap this year. I don’t think I will marry it with my December Daily album (using the prompts on days I don’t have much going on), but we’ll see. Once you purchase the class, you have access for every subsequent year, so I figured it was a good investment. I have already begun exploring the forum and excited by all the discussion of how impactful the class is on people.

Holidays in Hand: I also have signed up for Jessica Sprague’s free Christmas class, Holidays in Hand, which is all about documenting Christmases past and present. Ironically, I created an album this weekend for my December (in)courage post all about documenting memories from Christmases past. Here’s a peak at the cover (the paper is Tinkering Ink and the calendar and card are Jenni Bowlin).

I have taken other classes that Jessica Sprague has offered in the past, and I can guarantee that it will be very thorough and worth your time. Plus, it’s free. The end of November is going to be yucky for me (as I shared yesterday, I have Mom’s surgery trip Nov. 19-23/Thanksgiving trip Nov. 24-30), but the great thing is that I can go back and download the materials later. The class starts next Monday, November 16.

The last Christmasy scrapbooking project/event that I am participating in is Jenni Bowlin’s 2nd Annual VintageFest.

Last year I wasn’t able to attend, so when she posted about this year’s, I signed up right away for the evening crop. I have taken a lot of Jenni classes in the past, so I didn’t invest in any of the classes she is offering (though they are always excellent). I figured the opportunity to buy Jenni Bowlin stuff at a discount and scrapbook for five hours was good enough for me.
